We in Sedgwick will be upgraded to Extreme by next thursday if the 30% storms falls through.
I guess it all depends on how it plays out. Here was last year in September

And as the nation as a whole is EXTREMELY WIDESPREAD drought this year.
Actually, I think what you see is some areas that were in a EXTREME DROUGHT last year have gotten better. Some areas that were not in drought last year are getting worse. Like trains passing in the night and with El Nino coming you ...

Worst thing about these 100F days since May and very little rain is the trees lose their leaves early thus no fall colors

Looks like a long extreme drought. After this rain chance, there is no heavy rain in the forecast or rain at all. Looks like less heat but still dry weather. Dofo's pond is about to be split in two ponds.

But rain fall the same. Beggars cannot be choosers. I was thankful for the puddles in our dirt road.

I'm hotter than a hooker at church. DOFO is right, it is hot in July.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

We must have shattered tons of records today, and many more the rest of this week.

Counting down the days this summer when we'll pass last summer's heat and rainfall records...

Because .07" stops a drought? And there is no significant rain in the forecast? Long Term Drought#
