Chasers Fall to the Rainiers, 3-2, on Thursday Night
PAPILLION, Neb. - Lefty Will Smith pitched well and the freshly promoted Wil Myers went 2-for-5 at the plate with an RBI but it was not enough as the Storm Chasers were stymied by the Tacoma Rainiers, 3-2, on Thursday. The loss snapped Omaha's 14 game Werner Park win streak.

Smith (1-3) performed well in defeat, pitching through 7.2 innings while giving up three runs (two earned.) Tacoma's (16-24) Sean Henn (3-0) picked up the win after working two innings in relief of starter Erasmo Ramirez while the Rainiers' Stephen Pryor earned his first save of the season.
No word yet on who's pitching tonight. I'm hoping for Odorizzi. Jamie Romack was traded to the Cardinals for cash considerations.

    Naturals Sweep Drillers
TULSA, OK - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals got a brilliant start from Noel Arguelles on their way to a 2-1 win over the Tulsa Drillers on Thursday night at ONEOK Field. The win completes the sweep of the four-game series, and moves the Naturals within one game of the lead in the North Division.

Storm Chasers Rally to Beat Rainiers, 5-4, on Friday
PAPILLION, Neb. - Starter Jake Odorizzi made a solid first impression in his Triple-A debut as the 22 year old hurled 6.2 innings of nine hit, three-run ball, en-route to a no-decision. What was decisive was the patented, exciting, Werner Park come-from-behind 5-4 victory to propel their home record to 16-2 and their overall record to 26-16.

Outfielder Wil Myers also had a solid game for Omaha as he collected three hits in four at-bats while knocking in and scoring a run. Jeremy Jeffress (3-2) secured the win after an inning of relief while Francisley Bueno notched his third save of the year after getting the game's final out.
      Pitcher TBD

      Naturals right on the Marks
Marks (3-1) turned in his best outing of the season going seven innings scattering three hits while walking two and fanning three. The outing was the longest of the season for Marks. Kendal Volz took over for Marks in the eighth inning and worked around a two-out single to keep the Naturals in front. Volz finished off the ninth inning as well to earn his sixth save of the season.
      Pimentel starts tonight

DAVID'S WALKOFF HOMER WINS SERIES OPENER
Cole White (2-0) got the win in relief. He took over for Sample in the seventh and spun three shutout frames, yielding just three hits and chalking up four strikeouts.

        Travelers snap Naturals' Streak
[FONT=arial]Pimentel went three and two-thirds inning allowing five hits and three runs in his second start of the season for the Naturals. Buddy Bauman relieved Pimentel and went two and a third innings scoreless innings allowing just one hit. The Travelers tacked on an insurance run in the seventh inning when Segura scored on a wild pitch thrown by Bryan Paukovits to make it 4-1.

Jason Adam (1-6) took another loss thanks to having no run support once again. He was sharp through his first five innings of work, having allowed only a walk and a hit with seven strikeouts. Trouble loomed in the sixth inning. With one out, Teodoro Martinez spanked a double down the left field line. Tomas Telis then sharply rolled one to the right side. Merrifield grabbed the ball a few steps onto the outfield grass as he scampered towards the first base side. Realizing there was no play on Telis, Merrifield saw Martinez breaking for home. He zipped the ball to David on a fly and the Rocks catcher applied the tag for the second out.

Storm Chasers and Rainiers Split Sunday's Doubleheader
Vin Mazzaro (2-0) started for the Chasers (27-17) in game one and picked up the victory after allowing five runs in 5.1 innings of work. Brandon Sisk earned the save after shutting out the Rainiers (17-26) in his 1.2 innings pitched. Clint Robinson was a key cog in the victory with his three RBI.
Sean O'Sullivan (3-3) took the hill for Omaha in game two and was hit with a loss after allowing four runs in his 5.2 innings on the mound. Tommy Hottovy got the final out of the sixth and Blaine Hardy worked the seventh inning in relief of O'Sullivan and neither yielded a hit or a run.
          Today's starter not yet listed.

          Naturals Edged by Arkansas Travelers
Naturals starter Chris Dwyer was perfect over the first four innings he pitched, and allowed just two runs on three hits over his six and two-thirds total. He struck out five and walked three over the course of his outing. Travelers (18-25) starter John Hellweg allowed just two runs on six Naturals hits over four and two-thirds innings of work, walking six while striking out three. Neither starter factored in the decision.
Ethan Hollingsworth slated to start for NWA

ANOTHER WALKOFF ON THE RIVERFRONT FOR ROCKS
After having their offense shut down in a no-hitter on Saturday, the Blue Rocks pitching staff was near flawless on Sunday. Wilmington starter Sugar Ray Marimon totaled six innings of shutout baseball, ringing up nine strikeouts and allowing just one hit. Santiago Garrido (1-1) tossed the last three innings and picked up his first Carolina League victory. He allowed a run on three hits while striking out four Pelicans.

Chasers Offense Sputters, Lose 4-2 on Monday
Southpaw Mike Montgomery (2-1) was stung with the loss as he yielded three runs over four hits while issuing three free passes to Salt Lake (24-21) over 6.0 innings pitched. Third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff and catcher Cody Clark knocked a run in each, compiling all of the Storm Chasers' (27-18) offense in the process.
            No word on a starter

Duncan's 4 Hits Not Enough for Naturals
The Naturals (24-20) avoided being shutout by getting on the board in the ninth inning. Eric Duncan led off the frame with a single off of Travelers' reliever Chris school for his fourth hit of the game. Orlando followed with a single, and Yem Prades came through with a two-run single to cut the lead to 6-2. Prades moved to second on a throwing error by Segura, and was then driven in by Carlo Testa that cut the lead to 6-3. The RBI was the 19th of the season for Testa. Steven Geltz came on in relief for the Travelers and got the last out of the ball game to record his fifth save of the season.
            Arguelles to start

LAUGHER AT FRAWLEY ENDS IN ROCKS WIN
The big blows came in the fourth inning for Wilmington. Up 2-0, the Blue Rocks got their rally going with one out against Potomac starter Matt Swynenberg (3-2). Whit Merrifield powered a ball to right field that was sorely misplayed by Randolph Oduber, putting him at second base after the error. Angel Franco then slapped a triple down the first base line to make it 3-0. Brian Fletcher followed with a double that was smoked to the alley in right center which boosted the lead to 4-0. Brett Eibner tripled deep to deep right center which scored Fletcher from second for a 5-0 lead. With the infield drawn in, Cheslor Cuthbert raised the lead to 6-0 with a slow roller up the middle that snuck by the drawn in infield of the Nationals. Swynenberg was relieved after Cuthbert's single.
Rocks' Billo gets results with slider
Greg Billo always had confidence in his slider. His coaches at Class A Advanced Wilmington, however, did not.

But when the Blue Rocks staff finally allowed the right-hander to begin utilizing the secondary pitch once again, the move paid off.

Billo allowed just two hits and one walk over seven shutout innings in Wilmington's 7-0 win over Potomac on Monday. The 21-year-old added five strikeouts in his longest outing of the 2012 season.

"It was the second night that I was allowed to mix in the slider," he said. "It was taken away at the beginning of the season, when the coaching staff wanted me to focus on my other stuff.

Cheslor Cuthbert; The Story Of Struggle At 19
Cheslor Cuthbert came to Spring Training 2012 with a new bold body. The story was that Cuthbert struggled in the end of 2011 because he “wasn’t in the best baseball shape”. The body wasn’t awful but Cuthbert looked like he had enjoyed McDonalds on his roadtrips which is understandable for an 18 year old kid from Nicaragua in the Midwest League. From the sources I have spoken with Cuthbert looked to be in really good baseball shape in camp this year.

Cuthbert came into 2012 with a ton of prospect hype. Cuthbert was ranked 81st in Baseball America’s top 100 and 83rd in Baseball Prospectus’ top 101. He was also ranked 5th in Baseball America’s top 10 and 4th on Baseball Prospectus’ top 11. From the looks of his physical build Cuthbert showed some want this offseason even though he received all of the accolades.

Chasers Lose Their Third Straight at Werner Park
Starting pitcher Ryan Verdugo (3-1) was hit with his first loss of the season after getting tagged for five runs over 5.2 innings pitched. Relievers Blaine Hardy, Brandon Sisk and Ramon Colon combined to finish the final 3.1 innings and gave up just a lone run.
Myers connects on first Triple-A homer
Wil Myers was one of the hottest hitters in the Texas League before his promotion.

So far, nobody in the Pacific Coast League has been able to cool him down. The Royals' No. 2 prospect collected three hits, including his first Triple-A home run, on Tuesday, but the Omaha Storm Chasers fell to the Salt Lake Bees, 6-3.

Myers went deep in his first at-bat, sending an 0-1 pitch from Major League veteran Juan Rincon over the left-field wall for a two-run homer.

He last left the park on May 14, when he smacked two longballs for Double-A Northwest Arkansas. "He threw a fastball up for ball one, then hung a curveball in the middle of the plate and I was able to turn on it," Myers said.

Storm Chasers Beat the Bees on Wednesday, 5-2
Young guns Jake Odorizzi (1-0) and Wil Myers also played key roles in Wednesday's win. Odorizzi pitched extremely well, allowing a lone run in his 6.0 innings on the mound to earn the first Triple-A victory of his career.

Meanwhile, Myers went 2-for-4 at the dish and connected for a mammoth solo home run in the eighth inning. The homer came a day after slugging his first career Triple-A bomb. Omaha (28-19) grabbed a 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the second thanks to a solo shot by Clint Robinson. The power surge continued as shortstop Tony Abreu hit a two-run jack in the third.
                  Myers hits tape-measure shot
It was the outfielder's seventh game in the Pacific Coast League after earning a promotion from Double-A Northwest Arkansas for hitting .343 with 13 homers in 35 games to start the year. After a 2-for-4 outing Wednesday, MLB.com's No. 16 prospect is hitting .417 with a .792 slugging percentage with the Storm Chasers.

His home run Wednesday was believed to be the longest in the two-year history of Omaha's Werner Park. "It was a fastball down and in from a lefty side-arm [angle]," said Myers. "It was actually a pretty good pitch. I was just able to keep my hands in and kind of golf it out."

Christian Colon led off the bottom of the ninth with his fourth home run of the season, but the Naturals could not push another run across and fell 9-8.

Two Solo Homers and Great Pitching Allow Omaha to Outlast Zephyrs
Metairie, LA - Wil Myers hit the game-winning home run with one out in the 12th inning as Omaha slipped past New Orleans, 2-1, Friday night in the first of four meetings at Zephyr Field. The Storm Chasers won their third straight to improve to 30-19 and maintain their nine-game lead over Iowa in the American Conference North Division.

New Orleans pitching had retired 13 batters in a row before Myers slammed Gary Glover's fifth pitch of the at-bat over the wall in left for his third home run in the last four games to put Omaha in front for the first time in the contest. Roman Colon then retired the side in order in the bottom of the inning to earn the victory. The right-hander retired nine of the 10 batters he faced, including each of the last eight.

During that time, the reigning Carolina League Player of the Week has hit .524 (11-for-21) to raise his average by 60 points (.218-.278). That makes for his best batting average since April 20. He went 2-for-3 with a bruise and a run scored on Friday.

                    Yordano Ventura................?
After seeing Yordano for the past couple of months I’ve learned a few things about him. He has a good smile, he might actually be smaller than I am, he nods his head when I speak English to him, he gets a nice chuckle when I talk to him in Spanish, oh yeah and he throws fire with an absolute hammer curveball.

Yordano has had a lot of articles written about him talking about how much effort his delivery has for such a small body. His delivery has effort but it is not anywhere near max effort. For those that may not understand what I mean effort is basically what it looks like when he throws. Does it look like his arm is going to fly off with the ball to home plate at any point, or does it look like he’s just out there playing catch? The delivery with Yordano lands somewhere in the middle because he does look to be out there just playing catch at times he shows a little more effort. Combine this with the fact that he’s 5’11 and oh we will say he’s exactly my size at 155 pounds it isn’t really realistic to think that he will be able to go out and eventually throw 170+ innings per year. Also, I have spoken with a member of the Royals front office and he said that they were concerned about Yordano spinning out of his delivery early causing him to lose command of his fastball.

The Storm Chasers got on the board in the third on a fielding error by Nick Green that allowed Anthony Seratelli to score. However, in the next at-bat, both Wil Myers and hitting coach Tommy Gregg were ejected for arguing balls and strikes and the rally fizzled. The Zephyrs responded in the bottom of the frame on Dominguez's three-run shot off the left field foul pole that pushed the margin to 5-1. The highly-regarded third baseman has hit six of his 16 homers at the Triple-A level against Omaha.
                      Omaha's Late Comeback Attempt Thwarted
Storm Chasers starter Ryan Verdugo, who pitched for one season at LSU and makes his home in Baton Rouge, was lifted after seven innings during which he yielded a pair of runs on five hits while walking two and fanning five in a no-decision. Martin, who had allowed 13 runs over 9 1/3 innings in his last two starts at Colorado Springs and Reno, held the visitors to two runs on four hits while recording one strike out but also did not factor into the decision.
Offense comes alive early and bullpen preserves lead
Metairie, LA - Wil Myers collected three hits, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs to push Omaha past New Orleans, 6-3, Monday afternoon in the last of a four-game set at Zephyr Field. The Storm Chasers split the series with the Zephyrs to improve to 31-21 and maintain their seven-game cushion over Iowa as they get ready to begin a 12-game home stand over a 13-day stretch.
                      Pitcher TBD

                      RoughRiders homers top Naturals
Dwyer (3-5) went five innings allowing nine hits and eight runs, six of which were earned. He issued only two walks and struck out a season high seven. His counter part Barret Loux (10-0) went six innings allowing nine hits and six runs, while walking two and fanning seven.
                      Testa, Naturals top RoughRiders
SPRINGDALE, AR - Carlo Testa delivered three hits, and was just a single shy of the cycle, as the Northwest Arkansas Naturals to a 9-5 win over the Frisco RoughRiders on Sunday night at Arvest Ballpark.
                      RoughRiders jump on Naturals early
Johnny Whittleman tacked on another run for the Naturals blasting a home run to deep right center field. The home run was the ninth of the season for Whittleman, which is second on the team to Wil Myers' who had 13 before being promoted to Triple-A Omaha.

In 11 appearances, Nick Rogers is 1-0 with six saves in as many tries and a miniscule 0.57 ERA. The Carolina League has hit just .145 against him with 18 strikeouts against three walks over his 15.2 innings. He also stranded his first inherited runner of the season.

                      FRANCO'S HOMER CARRIES ROCKS
Zebulon, NC - Angel Franco's first Carolina League home run snapped a 2-2 deadlock in the fourth inning for a lead his squad would not surrender as the Wilmington Blue Rocks (24-25) bested the Carolina Mudcats (22-27) on Memorial Day, 4-3. The Rocks' league-high 20th one-run game of the season is also their ninth win in 12 games.

Chasers Fall to the I-Cubs, 5-4, on Tuesday
Jonathan Sanchez, who started his first rehab game with the Storm Chasers (31-22), put on a fine performance. Sanchez did not factor in to the decision but went 5.2 strong innings and allowed just a single run while punching out five Cubs (24-27). Reliever Doug Davis (0-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs to score in just 1.1 innings.

Omaha had their game rained out last night and will play a DH this evening.

                          Barfield Walks off on Naturals
The Naturals (26-25) retook the lead in the top of the fifth inning. Prades led off the inning with a single, his third hit of the game, and later scored on a triple by Duncan that made it 4-3. The triple was the first of the season for Duncan, who picked up his third RBI of the night on the play. Mario Lisson followed with an RBI single against RockHounds starter Dan Straily that made it 5-3.
                          Pimentel starts tonight for NWA

MISCUES & DOUBLE PLAYS LET DOWN BLUE ROCKS
Jason Adam has lost seven straight starts. During that time he has received 15 runs of support.
Marimon starts for the Rocks tonight

Kane County Slugs Way to Win Over Clinton
Again, the Cougars would have an answer. They loaded the bases in the sixth inning after Justin Trapp was awarded first base after being hit by a pitch in the face. Trapp squared to bunt on the pitch that appeared to hit the bat and then his face. It brought up Jorge Bonifacio who met a pitch from David Colvin rudely and knocked it out for a grand slam to put Kane County on top 11-9.
Yambati expected to start for KC

Storm Chasers and I-Cubs Split Thursday's Doubleheader
Sean O'Sullivan (4-4) was hit with the loss in game one after tossing 6.1 innings of three-run ball. Yuniesky Betancourt had quite a day at the plate, collecting three hits in four at-bats.
Thanks to Montgomery's masterful two-hit performance on the mound and an offensive outburst put forth by the home team, game two of the twin-bill could not have been any more different than game one.

Seven Storm Chasers contributed offensively with atleast one hit and Wil Myers lead the charge with three hits and four runs batted in, including a three-run shot in the second inning.
                            Starter not yet known
                            Omaha's Montgomery nearly unhittable
Mike Montgomery has encountered his fair share of struggles with Triple-A Omaha this season, but nothing had been as bad as his last outing. The southpaw established season highs with seven runs and eight hits allowed over just 4 1/3 innings in a 9-2 loss to New Orleans on May 26.

Something had to change in order for the results to do the same. And for Montgomery, the change was simple. He stopped caring, or caring too much anyway.

Because of the mental adjustment, the Royals' No. 3 prospect returned to the form that earned him such high acclaim in the first place. Montgomery threw 5 1/3 no-hit innings Thursday night before allowing a solo home run to Cubs' No. 2 prospect Brett Jackson in Omaha's 10-1 win over Iowa.
                            Big inning enough for RockHounds
Pimentel (2-3) turned in a quality start for the Naturals working a season high six and a third innings allowing four hit and three runs, while walking two and striking out a season high six. Haviland (3-4) went five innings for the RockHounds allowing three hits and two runs, issuing three walks and fanning five
                            Dwyer to start tonight

                            FIVE-RUN EIGHTH OVERWHELMS WILMINGTON
Carolina claimed a narrow lead thanks to Jake Lowery's RBI double in the second and Giovanny Urshela's run-scoring groundout in the third. That would be all the Mud-Tribe would get against Sugar Ray Marimon. The Wilmington hurler posted his fourth straight quality start with six innings of two-run ball. He whiffed eight, walked one and allowed just five hits
                            Ventura to start

                            KC rained out.

                            Diamonds in the Rough 5.31
                            POD - Mike Montgomery
                            HOD - Wil Myers

I should have updated stats posted at some point today for both the Farm and KC
