If he fixes the control problems that plagued him last year, definitely. That was the only thing that kept him from KC last season. Duffy shined in Omaha and Monty struggled some. If Monty has a good first month or two and somebody struggles in KC, or gets injured, he'll get a quick look.

Storm Chasers Beat the Isotopes, 8-4, On Opening Night

PAPILLION, Neb. - A sold-out crowd of 7,804 screaming fans saw the Omaha Storm Chasers defeat the Albuquerque Isotopes, 8-4, on Opening Night. Third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff led the charge and went 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and three runs batted in. Right-hander Jeremy Jeffress (1-0) went 2.0 innings and allowed a single run to pick up the win in relief.

Omaha found themselves trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth. The Storm Chasers cut into the lead with an RBI groundout by Kouzmanoff scored second baseman Johnny Giavotella. The next batter, David Lough, laced a single to bring Clint Robinson home and bring the Storm Chasers within one at 3-2

Looks like Will Smith got the start and struggled with his control, which is odd. Mazzaro takes the hill tonight.

Naturals Shutout In Opener

Chris Dwyer (0-1)would settle in after that to go four and a third innings allowing just two hits and two runs, one of which was earned. Dwyer pitched around four errors to limit the damage and recorded five strikeouts while walking just one.

That's good news for Chris. He's also one who has struggled some with control. Odorizzi starts tonight.

Cougars' Adams redefines 'big inning'

After Adams led off the second with a triple to center, Orlando Calixte reached base on a throwing error by starting pitcher Tyrell Jenkins (0-6) while Adams scored. Justin Trapp then tripled him in.

Three batters later, Robert Stock replaced Jenkins. Michael Antonio doubled in two runs and following a walk to Jorge Bonifacio that reloaded the bases, Adams delivered his grand slam. Adams finished last season by hitting .230 in 43 games for Kane County. The 2009 13th-round pick was called up from short-season Burlington after batting .281 and getting on base at a .353 clip through 43 games.

Can't believe this guy gets paid to write. But at least it's a little info on KC.

PAPILLION, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers let a 2-0 lead slip away and eventually fell to the Albuquerque Isotopes, 5-2 on Friday night. Starter Vin Mazzaro pitched well but did not factor into the decision with his six scoreless innings on the mound as he punched out six Isotope batters. Both offenses were held in check as both teams failed to scratch out a run in the first 4.5 innings until a Tony Abreu home run sailed over the left field wall to put the Storm Chasers ahead, 1-0.

Storm Chasers three-hit the Isotopes, Win 5-0 on Saturday

PAPILLION, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers held the Albuquerque Isotopes' offense in check in the Storm Chasers convincing 5-0 win on Saturday night. Starting pitcher Nathan Adcock secured his first win of 2012 as he held the Isotopes to just two hits in 5.1 innings. Tony Abreu, Cody Clark and Max Ramirez each knocked in a run in Saturday's win.

Storm Chasers out-slug the Isotopes, 17-11, on Easter Sunday

PAPILLION, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers and the Albuquerque Isotopes made sure that the finale of their four-game series was one to remember, as Omaha outlasted Albuquerque, 17-11 on Sunday. A strong breeze swirled throughout Werner Park all day on Sunday which contributed to the offensive outburst put forth by both clubs. Max Ramirez went two-for-four with four runs batted in that came on a towering grand slam that bounced off the right field foul pole in the third inning.

Chasers Defeat the Express, 6-3, on Monday

PAPILLION, Neb. - Infielder Anthony Seratelli not only made his Triple-A debut but also played an integral role in the Storm Chasers 6-3 victory against the Round Rock Express on Monday night. Seratelli scratched out two hits and drove in three runs in the victory.
Mike Montgomery started for Omaha (4-1) but did not factor into the decision after giving up two runs and striking out three in 4.1 innings. Reliever Ethan Hollingsworth (1-0), who went three innings and gave up a single run, did pick up the win in relief of Montgomery.

Naturals Drop First Series

Arguelles went three and a third innings in his Double-A debut allowing seven hits and five runs, three of which were earned. Volz went two and two thirds innnings for the Naturals allowing just one hit and fanning two.

Wil Myers got the offense going with a solo home run in the fifth inning off of Hooks reliever Henry Villar (1-0) to cut the lead to 5-1. Myers was on base in three of his four plate appearances reaching on an error in the first inning and singling in the eighth. Villar picked up the win for the Hooks going three innings and allowing just two hits and one run. Jose Cisnero got the start for the Hooks and went four innings allowing just one hit and walking four.

Strong Start Leads Naturals to Shutout

SAN ANTONIO, TX- John Whittleman hit his first home run of the season, and Justin Marks threw four shutout innings, as the Northwest Arkansas Naturals defeated the San Antonio Missions 3-0 at Nelson Wolf Municipal Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The Naturals (2-2) got on the board early, as all three runs were scored in the top of the first inning. Australian native Hayden Beard (0-1), making his first professional start, hit leadoff batter Rey Navarro. Christian Colon bunted him to second, with Wil Myers singling Navarro to third. While Whittleman at the plate, Missions catcher Ali Solis' pickoff throw then went past third baseman Jedd Gyorko, allowing Navarro to score the first run of the game. On the next pitch, Whittleman belted a home run to right field, plating the Naturals' second and third runs of the afternoon. Northwest Arkansas threatened again with Terry Evans hitting a double in the next at-bat, but Beard was able to get out of the inning without any further damage.

Nats' Odorizzi dominant in 2012 debut

"I was very happy with it," Odorizzi said. "A lot of strikes, got ahead early. Usually, that ends up being a pretty decent start."

The 22-year-old right-hander struck out eight -- more than he totaled in any of his 12 starts with the Naturals last season. He also did not issue a walk, a feat he accomplished only twice at Double-A in 2011.

"I tried to establish the fastball early and everything else else worked off that," Odorizzi said. "Things went well."

Dwyer starts today.

BLUE ROCKS BLANKED IN SEASON OPENER

Wilmington starter Tyler Sample (0-1) did not allow a baserunner until Josh Richmond's two-out homer to left-center field in the third inning. Telis added a solo shot at the start of the fourth, but the biggest trouble was still to come. Sample departed with a man on and two outs in the fifth, still down 2-0. His successor, Thomas Melgarejo, then induced a grounder to second from Jared Hoying. The ball's odd hop resulted in a base hit as it made contact with second baseman Angel Franco and an errant throw to first followed. That miscue allowed Richmond to score and opened the floodgates.

BLUE CREW BESTED IN TIGHT AFFAIR

Making his Advanced-A debut, Wilmington starter Jason Adam hurled five frames of one-run, four-hit ball. He struck out four and walked two. His successor, Chase Boruff, bounced back from a shaky start in the sixth. Hoying applied early pressure with a first-pitch bunt to begin the frame. Telis' double to left-center pushed the Pelicans ahead, 2-1, while a bruise to Villanueva and a Vinny DiFazio single then loaded the bases.

MERRIFIELD DELIVERS ROCKS FIRST WIN

Wilmington starter Yordano Ventura dominated in the first inning before command issues soured his debut. With one out in the second and the bases loaded, he got help from shortstop Alex McClure in turning a 6-3 double play on an Edwin Garcia grounder to end the inning. A pair of walks preceded an RBI double from Yefry Castillo for a 1-0 Myrtle Beach advantage in the fourth. That two-base hit meant the end of Ventura's day, but Dennick then got Garcia looking at a breaking ball to strand his two hand-me-down men. Ventura walked three, hit a batter and struck out just one over his 3.2 innings.

OFFENSIVE WOES CONTINUE IN THREE-HIT SHUTOUT

Billo allowed four runs (three earned) over five innings of work. He gave up seven hits, but no walks, and struck out five. His successor, Cole White, walked three over his 1.1 innings of two-run ball. One of those walks came with the bases loaded to Holt in the sixth inning. Wolters followed with his second RBI groundout of the evening.

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Five errors from the Kane County Cougars’ defense dug a big hole that the Quad Cities River Bandits filled with a six-run fourth inning on their way to an 8-0 victory Friday at Modern Woodmen Park.

Storm Chasers Defeat Round Rock in 16 Inning Duel

PAPILLION, Neb. - When Jarrod Dyson tripled home Irving Falu to walk-off and give the Storm Chasers the 9-8 victory on Tuesday over Round Rock, it signaled the end of a game that went 16 innings and clocked in at five hours and 24 minutes.

The contest shattered the previous record for most innings in a game at Werner Park which was 11, a record that had been matched three times entering play on Tuesday. The two teams combined to use 13 pitchers and 23 position players in the matinee.

Decker, Missions Beat Up Naturals

SAN ANTONIO, TX. - Cody Decker hit two home runs while driving in four, and two other San Antonio Missions went yard as they defeated the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 10-2 Tuesday night in the series finale at Nelson Wolff Municipal Stadium.

The Missions (3-3) scored early and often, chasing Naturals starter Chris Dwyer (0-1), who allowed five runs on four hits through just two and two-thirds innings of work.

Wil Myers has opened the season with a six-game hitting streak. NWA is off today. Odorizzi starts tomorrow.

LINEUP CHANGE BENEFITS BLUE ROCKS

Carolina got its first run on Jesus Aguilar's opposite-way laser over the short wall in right field. The first homer of the season for the man deemed to be the "Best Power Hitter" on the Indians' farm by Baseball America would be the only run surrendered by starter Sugar Ray Marimon. Marimon scattered six hits over 5.2 innings in his first Advanced-A outing. He walked just one and whiffed three.

GENEVA – Aaron Brooks tossed five scoreless innings as he paced the Kane County Cougars past the Beloit Snappers in an 8-3 victory Tuesday afternoon at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.

Brooks (1-0) became the first member of the Kane County starting rotation to pick up a win as he held the Snappers (2-3) off the board through the first five frames while coughing up only three hits. Brooks walked a pair and fanned three while never allowing a runner to reach third base.

Storm Chasers Walk Off on Round Rock for the Second Game in a Row

While things definitely looked bleak for Omaha's chances at winning five straight ballgames, the team refused to give up. Dyson, the second batter of the inning, used his speed to eek out an infield hit. Dyson then stole second and advanced to third when the throw by Round Rock's catcher skipped into center field. D. Robinson worked a free pass to give the Storm Chasers men on first and third with one out. With Clint Robinson at the plate, Derrick utilized his speed to steal second. Clint then took first the hard way when he was plunked by Express pitcher Tanner Scheppers.Manager Mike Jirschele, sensing that the tide was turning, sought to put speed on the base paths and replaced C. Robinson with David Lough. Kouzmanoff tied the ballgame at 5-5 when his single up the middle scored Dyson from third and D. Robinson from second, which set up Falu for game-winning RBI single.

Adcock to start tonight.

NWA had the day off. Odorizzi get the call.

LATE RALLY PUSHES MUDCATS PAST BLUE ROCKS

Blue Rocks starter Tyler Sample allowed three runs in the opening inning for an early hole. Jeremie Tice singled in a pair of runs and later scored from first when Lowery followed with a double to right. Sample settled from then on. The right-hander struck out five and walked just two over his five frames. He gave up a leadoff single to Jesus Aguilar in the third, but faced the minimum thereafter with the lone baserunner reaching on an error.

Wilmington has the day off today. Jason Adam gets the nod tomorrow.

Cougars drop seasons first 11a.m. start

Cougars righty Jason Mitchell spaced three runs in five innings before left-hander Scott Alexander followed with four innings of scoreless relief. The Cougars (3-3) tied the score at 1-all with Orlando Calixte’s fourth-inning double, but the Snappers (3-3) rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the fifth.

“Once we get the lead or get close and then go out and just give it right back, that’s tough to come back from,” said Buchanan, whose team lost two of three in its home-opening series. “That shutdown inning after you score is very important to try and do.”

Storm Chasers beat the Express, 5-4, on Thursday

Starter Nathan Adcock (2-0) earned his second win of the season after tossing six innings of scoreless ball. Tommy Hottovy's one-run ninth inning netted him his first save of 2012. Offensively, the Storm Chasers were paced by Tony Abreu's 3-for-4 performance along with his two RBI. In the season's first eight contests, Abreu's bat has been key to Omaha's offensive effort, as seen by his blistering .472 batting average.

Naturals roughed up in home opener

SPRINGDALE, AR - After fanning the first two batters, Jake Odorizzi found himself at odds with the strike zone. Four batters later, he'd walked the bases loaded and surrendered a bases-clearing triple to Jose Martinez as the Hooks scored four runs in the first and never looked back en route to a 12-5 victory over the Naturals in the Arvest Ballpark home opener.

At least Colon went 3-5 as a bright spot.... Arguelles starts today.

Adam starts today for Wilmington.

Albuquerque Wins Home Opener over Omaha

Omaha starter Ryan Verdugo lasted four frames and was charged with four runs on five hits and four walks while fanning a pair. He was followed to the hill by Sean O'Sullivan, who worked a scoreless fifth before yielding the decisive hit to Becker. Jeff Baisley finished the scoring with a seventh inning sacrifice fly.

Omaha Rallies from Six-Run Deficit to Earn First Road Win

Wilfredo Ledezma took over on the mound for the hosts in the decisive frame and walked two of the first three batters he faced before Evans, who came into the game to replace an injured Derrick Robinson in the 11th, smashed a long ball to straight away center to put the visitors ahead, 12-9. Following a Tony Abreu single, Clint Robinson left the yard for the first time this season and put the game out of reach.

Two Big Innings for the Isotopes Are the Difference

Albuquerque, NM - Veteran catcher Josh Bard singled in the game-winning run during a five-run seventh inning rally that catapulted Albuquerque past Omaha, 9-7, Sunday afternoon in the third of four meetings at Isotopes Park. The Storm Chasers collected 14 hits and drew five walks but fell for a second time in three games.

Naturals Drop Fourth Straight

Arguelles worked four and a third innings allowing five runs, on five hits, while walking four, and fanning a Double-A career high five. Patrick Keating came on and was strong in relief going two and two thirds innings allowing just one hit, while fanning three. Bryan Paukovits worked a scoreless eighth, but when his pitch count got up in the ninth inning he got into trouble. He worked one and a third innings allowing two hits and seven runs and six walks. Designated hitter John Whittleman finished off the game on the mound going two thirds of an inning.

Myers sets career high in RBI's, Naturals hit three HR's

Christian Colon's solo shot off Aristil in the sixth gave the Naturals broke the 7-7 tie. They got some insurance with an RBI single from Wil Myers in the eighth, completing a four-hit effort for the right fielder who also extended his season-opening hit streak to nine games. His five RBI marked a career best. Myers had four RBI six different times previously at his various minor league stops.

Sunday's game was postponed due to weather and will be made up in a DH today. Melville starts game 1.
Myers putting 2011 in rear-view mirror

After the Naturals fell behind, 3-0, in the first inning, Myers tied the game in the bottom half with his third homer of the season. He doubled and scored in the third, then added RBI singles in the fourth and eighth, falling a triple shy of the cycle.

"I just tried to stick with my approach," Myers said. "I tried to pull too many balls earlier in the season instead of going right back up the middle with the pitch."

Myers has gotten off to a much better start in his second season in the Texas League. The 21-year-old catcher-turned-outfielder did not hit his third homer last year until June 13 and drove in eight runs in the entire month of April. He's already batting .333 with three homers and seven RBIs in nine games.

The biggest difference is that Myers is healthy, having battled a staph infection in his knee that cost him more than a month last year.

He's an exciting prospect and will be one to watch. If he continues to hit and has made progress in RF, you might see him get a shot in Omaha in the 2nd half of the season. They're not going to rush him though. But I'd like to see him in Omaha by the end of the year and then start '13 there. I believe Frenchy would still be around in RF with Myers ready to take over if/when Frenchy were traded.

BLUE CREW WALKS OFF IN NINTH IN HOME OPENER

Down 3-0 in the ninth inning and facing reliever David Walters, Roman Hernandez led off with a single. After a strikeout of Geulin Beltre, Kevin David recorded a base knock to put the tying run at home plate. The next batter, Jake Kuebler, snuck a double down the third-base line to score Hernandez and make it 3-1. With the tying runs in scoring position, Whit Merrifield skied a ball to center field. Trent Mummey appeared to be settled under it but the ball went in and out of his glove. David scored on the play, while Kuebler moved to third and Merrifield scrambled to second base. After Orlando Gomez elected to intentionally walk Alex McClure, Cheslor Cuthbert came to the plate. He also lofted a ball to the outfield. Left fielder Jeremy Nowak twirled around trying to locate the ball and dropped it. Kuebler and Merrifield raced home with the tying and winning runs, inciting a frenzy amongst the Frawley Faithful.

Jason Adam started the game for the Blue Rocks and was nearly untouchable. He tossed five shutout frames, yielding only four hits while ringing up seven strikeouts, which at one point included five in a row.

ROCKS NINTH INNING COMEBACK FALLS JUST SHY

For his second straight outing, starting pitcher Yordano Ventura could not get the through the fourth inning. After going 3.2 IP at Myrtle Beach on April 8, Ventura pitched three frames of one run ball on Saturday, before being replaced in the fourth after a walk and a single allowed.

LATE RALLY EXTINGUISHED AGAIN BY KEYS

Billo started off hot with two perfect frames and two strikeouts. After running into trouble in the third and fourth inning, he finished the day with 3.2 innings, allowing four earned runs on five hits and a walk, while striking out six. He was charged with his second loss

Cougars win slugfest

A third-inning rally for the Cougars (4-4) resulted in seven runs, turning a 1-1 tie into an 8-1 Cougars advantage. Alex Llanos reached on a throwing error by shortstop Sean Jamieson and took third on a single by Danny Mateo. Michael Antonio tripled home both men to put the Cougars on top while they never trailed again.

Jorge Bonifacio lifted a single to center, scoring Antonio. Orlando Calixte reached on an infield hit, and Edul Escobar drew a walk from Jose Macias (0-2) to load the bases for Tim Ferguson. Ferguson cranked a 3-1 fastball over the left-center field fence to clear the bags and put the Cougars up by seven.

KC also won on Sunday. Not sure how Saturday went.

Ramirez Powers Chasers Past Isotopes

Omaha starter Vin Mazzaro lasted only four frames and was charged with eight runs on nine hits while walking one and fanning three. Jeremy Jeffress took over and settled things down with three shutout innings during which he allowed one hit, walked two and struck out one to earn his second win of the season.

Omaha's Ramirez drives home six

After bouncing around between three Triple-A teams last summer, Max Ramirez is on a mission to make himself at home in Omaha this year.

Ramirez continued his hot streak with a pair of homers and a career-high six RBIs, hitting two of the Storm Chasers' four longballs in Omaha's 12-10 win at Albuquerque on Monday afternoon.

The veteran catcher, who last appeared in the Majors in 2010, has three home runs in his last two games and five dingers in his last six. The 27-year-old is batting .345 and has driven in 18 runs since Opening Day.

Royals' second base prospect Johnny Giavotella homered in the first inning en route to driving in three runs and outfielder David Lough added his first homer of the season in the second. The Storm Chasers posted a pair of five-run rallies in a game that featured a combined 26 hits, eight pitchers, 22 runs and two errors

Insurance run lifts Naturals

Melville struggled at times with his control and ran up his pitch counts with some deep counts, but got some outs when he needed it most. He also wasn't helped by his defense, as the Mertins error led to the first two runs which were unearned. He lasted four innings, allowed two hits and three runs. He walked five and struck out two in the no-decision

Naturals, Missions split twinbill

San Antonio (5-6) got its own pair of runs on a miscue in the next inning to cut the lead to 3-2. With the bases loaded, Sharlon Schoop, in right field for the Naturals, dropped a fly ball off the bat of San Antonio cleanup batter Nathan Freiman and then threw wild of the second base bag. Two runs scored, but Chris Dwyer was able to get a groundball and a pair of strikeouts to escape the frame.

That ran up Dwyer's pitchcount and ended his outing after just three innings as he got a no-decision. He was charged with two runs, one earned, off three hits. He fanned six and walked three.

Myers reported to the park with a fever and did not play. Odorizzi pitches today.

Nine Runs And A Triple Play Boost Blue Rocks To Victory

Perez picked up his first victory of the season, as he went five innings of two run (both unearned) ball. He walked one and struck out a pair. Sugar Ray Marimon came on in relief of Perez and earned his first career save. He threw four innings of shutout ball, striking out five batters and allowing only two hits. It came in his 64th career appearance.

The article shows that Adam is to start today but the site says Sample. I'm guessing Sample gets the call.
Rocks turn season's first triple play

If you were scoring the Wilmington game Monday, you might have needed a bigger score sheet.

The Class A Advanced Blue Rocks turned an unusual triple play en route to a 9-2 win over the Carolina Mudcats.

With runners on the corners and no outs in the third inning, starting pitcher Leondy Perez struck out Giovanny Urshela. Catcher Kevin David threw to second baseman Luis Piterson, who tagged out Tony Wolters attempting a steal of second. Piterson fired the ball home as Tyler Holt attempted to take home on the rundown between first and second. David threw the ball to third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert, who ended the rundown by tagging out Holt.

For those scoring at home, it was a 2-4-2-5 triple play best described as a strike-'em-out, throw-'em-out, throw-'em-out triple play. It is believed to be the third triple play in the Royals affiliate's history.

KC game was postponed due to weather.

Starter Tyler Sample went a strong six innings. He allowed only three hits and a walk, while registering seven strikeouts, tying his career high as a member of the Blue Rocks. Jon Keck pitched a scoreless seventh as he recorded two strikeouts and Boruff pitched a clean ninth.

Storm Chasers Shut Out Express

Verdugo gave up only one hit, a first inning double by Brad Nelson, while walking four and fanning eight, the most for a Storm Chasers starter this season, en route to his first Triple-A victory. The southpaw's only challenge in his longest outing of the year was in the first inning when he struck out Mike Bianucci and Joey Butler with runners at second and third and one out.

Monty pitches today. He really needs to get it together.

Arguelles takes the hill for NWA

ROCKS SHUT OUT IN FINALE AGAINST CAROLINA

The lone run in the ballgame came in the fourth inning for Carolina against Wilmington starter Jason Adam. Tyler Holt led off and reached base after Franco booted a grounder at third base. With two outs, Holt took second base and then stole third shortly thereafter. Jesus Aguilar drove him home moments later with a single though the left side of the infield.

Adam was nearly flawless on Wednesday, allowing only one run (unearned) in 7.2 innings pitched. He allowed five hits, walked three, and struck out five Mudcats as he took his first loss of the season.

Adam remains winless in 2012. Though he may be frustrated by the lack of support received thus far, he sure isn't showing it.

"You always want to get a win for the team, but today that wasn't able to happen," said Adam, the Royals' fifth-round Draft pick in 2010. "The defense picked me up in a huge way today; because of them, there were a lot of pitches that I was able to get away with. They turned three or four double plays, and that picked me up big time."

Yet the ballgame's only run was the result of a fielding miscue. Tyler Holt reached on third baseman Angel Franco's fielding error to start the third inning and then stole second and third before scoring on a Jesus Aguilar single. Adam was in no mood to point the finger at anyone but himself, however.

"It's tough, but those stolen bases are on me, especially [Holt] going from second to third," he said. "I need to be able to stop his feet every time. There's no one to blame but me."

Ventura gets the call.

Omaha Hits Three Home Runs in Second Straight Win

Montgomery, after a bit of a rocky first inning, settled down to retire 12 in a row and 17 out of 18 before allowing a couple of hits and a run in the seventh inning that made it a 7-2 game. The highly-touted left-hander, who had gone only 7 2/3 innings combined in his first two turns, permitted a lone earned run on four hits while issuing two walks and striking out seven to grab his first win of the season. Sean O'Sullivan closed out the victory with two shutout frames.

We need to see more of this out of Monty. Smith to start tonight.

Travelers Walk off on Naturals

Arguelles went five and two thirds innings, for his longest start of the season. He allowed nine hits and one earned run, while striking out one. Naturals manager Brian Poldberg went to the bullpen with runners on first and second and two outs to bring in Michael Mariot. Mariot threw one pitch and got Renny Osuna to fly out to center field to work out of another jam. Mariot would go on to work two more perfect innings striking out one turning over the lead to Patrick Keating in the ninth inning.

Myers hitting streak is now at 11. Love the way he's started! Marks starts tonight.

SHOEMAKER BLASTS DASH PAST BLUE CREW

The Blue Crew stranded 10 men on the bases in squandering a great start from hard-throwing right-hander Yordano Ventura. Mixing his dominant heater with a spectacular curve, Ventura struck out nine men over a personal season-best five frames.

He also hit 100MPH on the gun. This was a very good outing for the young pitcher who's had some struggles. Billo gets the call. He's had a rough start in Wilmington after a spectacular season at Kane County last year.

Cougars overcome 5 errors in victory

Adams raised his season average to .386 and now has 15 RBIs in 14 games after batting just .230 in 43 games with the Cougars last season.

Jorge Bonifacio collected three hits for the Cougars to raise his season average to .407, and Orlando Calixte and Michael Antonio each had an RBI.

Mateo's Triple Keys Kane County Comeback

Murray Watts crushed a solo home run, his third bomb of the season, while Lane Adams and Jorge Bonifacio both had three hits apiece to help pace the Cougars offense. Each player drove in a run and Bonifacio added a double. Bonifacio also stole a pair of bases and picked up an outfield assist when he threw out Travis Whitmore at second in the fifth inning.

Four Round Rock Hurlers Cool Down Omaha's Offense

Will Smith put together his best outing of the season but wound up suffering the hard-luck loss after allowing two runs on four hits over seven innings. The southpaw did not walk a batter and struck out five, including the last four hitters he faced. Jeremy Jeffress worked a scoreless eighth inning in relief.

Mazzaro pitches today.

NWA was postponed last night. Marks should start game one with Melville starting game two.

BILLO & CO. BLANK WINSTON-SALEM

Billo scattered four hits over five scoreless frames. He walked two and struck out four. Thomas Melgarejo tossed a pair of scoreless innings thereafter and Nick Rogers put a bow on things with two shutout frames of his own. Wilmington added insurance tallies with Alex McClure's run-scoring single in the seventh and Cheslor Cuthbert's comeback knock for an RBI in the ninth.

Marimon is expected to start today.

Storm Chasers Defeat the Sounds, 6-5, in 13 Innings

Tommy Hottovy (1-0) picked up his first win of 2012 after three masterful innings of relief in which he did not allow a hit and struck out five. Starter Vin Mazzaro put in a solid effort, giving up three runs over seven hits in six innings of work.

Storm Chasers Squeeze Past the Sounds, 2-1, on Sunday

Adcock (3-1) muted the Sounds' (4-14) offense for his third victory of the season while reliever Brandon Sisk worked a perfect ninth inning to pick up his first save of 2012.

Naturals Swept In Double-header

The offense got going again in the second inning for the Travelers putting three more runs on the board and chasing Melville from the game after just an inning and two thirds. The big blow came from Mount who hit a two-run home run to make it 8-0. Mount also homered in the first game of the double header.

Cain Joins Naturals

Dick Kaegel, the Royals beat reporter for MLB.com, reports that right handed pitcher Felipe Paulino is expected to join the Naturals later on in the week. Paulino went 4-10 last season in 39 games and 20 starts in the major leagues, splitting time between the Colorado Rockies and the Kansas City Royals.

Naturals Swept by Arkansas

The Naturals bats were held quiet until the bottom of the ninth. After Wil Myers struck out to end his season-opening 13 game hitting streak, Johnny Whittleman drilled a 2-2 pitch beyond the right field wall, but it proved to be too little too late as the Naturals fell to the Travelers 8-4.

POWER SURGE PROPELS ROCKS

Marimon departed with a man on and one out in the sixth. His successor, Leondy Perez, then allowed six of the next seven men to reach base. Consecutive bases-loaded walks to Marcus Semien and Carlos Sanchez capped off the stream of baserunners and drew the Dash even, 6-6. Perez (2-0) would settle from there. Including inducing a fly-out to center from Trayce Thompson to strand the bases loaded in the sixth, Perez retired 10 of the last 11 he faced to get the win.

RAIN SUSPENDS PLAY IN WINSTON-SALEM

Dash starter Jake Petricka struggled with his command amid the difficult conditions in the opening half inning. Over the course of his first five batters faced, the highly-touted prospect walked two men and allowed a pair of homers. Cheslor Cuthbert's first dinger as a Blue Rock cleared the fence in left-center field for a 2-0 Wilmington lead. The next man in the box, Brian Fletcher, promptly followed with a titanic shot of his own to left for a 3-0 margin.

Adam will start tonight against Daisuke Matsuzaka.
