KAKE - Jury recommends 75 years in prison for man who crashed into Kansas family
A jury has convicted a man of plowing his car into a Kansas family, killing a father and injuring a mother and daughter, in Kentucky in 2022.
Michael Hurley was found guilty Monday of murder, driving under the influence, two counts of first-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree assault. It took the jury less than two hours to reach the verdict.
The jury recommended 35 years in prison for murder and 20 years for each count of first-degree assault to be served consecutively for a total of 75 years. He will be sentenced on December 13.
In closing arguments, Hurley's defense questioned blood test procedures and reminded jurors he was cooperating with police.
