We recently tried HomeGrown and really liked it. We are thinking of making it a regular stop when we're in Wichita,
    WBC is great.
Enjoyed The Anchor the one time I ate there.

I definitely want to try some of the burger/sandwich places I've heard about on here, like Ty's, Bomber and OMTS.

My son and his wife talk highly of the Copper Oven.

As for outside of Wichita, The Barn in Burrton is good. The Mustard Seed deli in Buhler. Carl's Bar in Hutch. There's a little convenience store in downtown Hutch that recently opened called Ol' Jake's, in the Plaza Towers building. They have a deli inside that I would describe as Subway-like prices, but much better sandwiches. I hear their soups are good, too.

I cannot figure out what is so good about HomeGrown. I've eaten there twice and while the deli sandwich I had was good (turkey avocado?), it was priced to be great. And it was not very big. The side order "fruit cup" was more like a shot glass. Maybe appropriate size for a 5 yr old child.

The place is popular but... I must be ordering the wrong things.

P.S. The Rueben (I sub turkey) at the Anchor is awesome!

I've said it before, but if you're in Vegas, you must try Forte Tapas. It's a tiny little place maybe 5 miles west of the Strip in a strip mall. Decent area so parking etc is of no concern.

Eastern European flair in a cozy, eclectic little atmosphere. They have a good cocktail menu (if you're into that) and I had the Forte Jackass (times 2 it was so good and I really don't drink) but the food is unique and ridiculous.

The bacon wrapped stuffed dates are one of the best things I've ever consumed, and that's saying something. The grape leaves were spectacular. The kebopche & kuifte (Bulgarian sausages) are so good especially with the red pepper dip. The stroganoff you'll want for your last meal. We had it with the fries (and they were the best fries I've ever had anywhere.....I have no idea what they used to get them that crispy and delicious...and I probably don't want to know....) and the table cried when they were gone. Yes, it's that good. My mouth is watering so much right now.

Well the rent in BF kind of drives the price, but I think HG is more about marketing than the food. Is it good? It's fine. I just think it's a bill of goods they're selling to you, at ridiculous prices.

Oh it's organic. Oh it's fresh. Oh it's cage free. Oh it's avocado toast. Enough. I don't need to spend $20 for a gluten free breakfast.

But again, it's fine. It's just high priced window dressing to me. I believe Jason's Deli is over priced, but at least there's value there, and literally every meal I've had there was good.

I miss Marco's in Valley Center. That was a go-to spot to impress dates when I was in college. Sad that it's no longer there.

Fizz Burgers and Bottles is always a treat whenever I'm in Wichita. Highly recommend for their spicy (extra hot) burgers and roasted garlic dipping sauce on fries.

B&C Barbeque is a gem...all you can eat BBQ? Sign me up.

If anyone comes up here to KC for the CBE next year, I have a couple spots/dishes to recommend.

County Road Ice House - Texas Torpedos are incredible
Jerusalem Cafe in the Westport area - GREAT Mediterranean food
Joe's KC if you want the Z-Man, Q39 if you want other BBQ as well...not wild about Gates/Arthur Bryant's personally
Grunauer - little on the expensive end but it's a really nice German restaurant near downtown
            The Brick

The salad bar at Jason's Deli is exceptional IMO. Great value at 8.99! (unlimited)

Yeah I was unfair in saying it's overpriced. It's mostly fairly priced, you just get a lot. And the quality is excellent. I've known one of the managing owners for nearly 20 years. He's a super nice guy, and just like his restaurant. Glad he's made a mint with it as he deserves it.

We tried Grunauer last summer. It was very good. A nice walk from Crown Center. The wife had gotten me Royals tickets for my birthday, and we were also able to get tickets to the Auschwitz exhibit at Union Station.

How was the Exhibit? We took in WWII through Russian Eyes at the Pyramid in Memphis years ago (maybe 20?) and I still remember how fascinating it was....would you go out of your way to see the Auschwitz one?

I absolutely would. It was one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen. It ranked up there with actually walking the grounds at Dachau. It was a sobering lesson in what depravity humans are capable of.

We went to the War Remains VR experience, which was cool, but could never get tickets for the Auschwitz exhibit. Always sold out.

I just got an email from Union Station. This summer’s exhibit is about Mayan culture. We may have to attend that.

If any of you come up here, reach out. I’ll treat you to authentic Alaskan cuisine. Fried moose nuts and Coors lite.

actually, it’s more like smoked salmon and an icy bay IPA.

The best fish sandwich I ever had was at The Fisherman's Daughter in Hoonah, AK. Alaskan Rockfish. Good stuff.

Rockfish is some of my favorite. A good friend of mine just bought a boat so my freezer will be well stocked.
