I have Hulu Live TV. They have several different plans (https://help.hulu.com/article/hulu-what-is-hulu-live-tv) and I have the one with ads, which is $83 before taxes and includes all of the local channels, FOX channels, and sports channels (https://www.hulu.com/live-tv) plus ESPN+. It also comes with Disney+ in case you like to watch Disney stuff.

I mainly go with it because of ESPN+, although it you live in the Wichita area and have a Dillons Boost membership, you can get ESPN+ through it instead - https://www.dillons.com/pr/boost/streaming-benefits But in the past I've gone with Sling TV as well. They have two different plans - Orange and Blue - or you can get them both depending on what you want (https://www.sling.com/channels). You would probably need the combo because Fox is on the Orange plan and ESPN is on the Blue one. But it's cheaper overall if they have the channels you want and then you can get ESPN+ by itself from the Hulu site if you want it.

You can probably find old movies on some of the free streaming apps, such as Pluto TV, Philo, and Freevee. You can search for the movie on JustWatch (https://www.justwatch.com/) to see where it may be streaming.

Wonder what the Fubo/Hulu package will be. I dropped Hulu this summer just before they raised prices again. I'm not sure how much Fubo really adds to what you could access from Hulu Live though. I definitely got all of the major sports channels (ESPNs, FS1, FS2, CBS Sports, TNT, TBS, NBC Sports, Big Ten Network, SEC Network). I think the Bally's channel was the only thing really missing. I suppose there could have been some racing channels or something that weren't there, but that didn't bother me personally.

I simply didn't watch enough live TV anymore to justify the pricing. I only miss live TV when WSU is playing on something that isn't ESPN+ but I don't mind going out to a sports bar to catch a game from time to time.
Fubo carries the regional sports networks like Bally Sports KC, but they charge extra per month for it. Also, from looking at their FAQ on it, if you live in an area where you could get multiple regional sports networks, they charge you for any you can get. For example, if you live someplace where you could get the KC one and the St Louis one, but you really only wanted the KC one, you would get both instead and get charged for both. It's been cheaper to just get the Bally+ subscription to watch the Royals, especially if you get it during one of their promo periods.

I check online every so often to see if the Royals will still be broadcast that way again in 2025, but nothing definite so far. I think MLB took over some of the broadcast rights from Bally for some teams, but the Royals isn't one of them. There's still talk the games may end up on Amazon Prime but nothing definite there either.

      • Just for reference, some of the free apps I use for TV and movies include Pluto TV, Tubi, Fawesome, Roku, Kanopy, YouTube, FilmRise, Crackle, Comet, The CW, FreeVee. I feel like I'm forgetting at least one.

I also have access to paid apps like Max, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+.

        I also pay for ESPN+.

The great thing about all of the free apps is that you can find nearly anything you want. I found a few of these apps because I'd do a general search for a movie or TV show and they'd pop up as to where I could watch them. Even though you have to deal with some ad breaks for the free apps, most of them aren't that bad. Generally less often and shorter than what you see on regular TV, and a lot of the movies/TV shows are on demand. Pluto has entire channels dedicated to specific shows or genres. Fawesome is a newer one for me that I found back in October when looking for scary movies to watch that I hadn't seen. I need to play around on it more but it seems to have quite a bit to offer.

That's true, I forgot they have lower tiers as well.

I have tried SlingTV on two different occasions and both times had frustrating buffering issues. YMMV

            • T-Mobile offered internet for $35 a month which is roughly half the price I was paying with AT&T. The price is locked in for a couple of years and is 3-4x faster than the AT&T service I was on.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.
