Donors aren't standing over administrators menacing them with a stick trying to steer the boat. They are simply watching current events to make sure the steward of the community's major university is aligned with the best interest of the entire community.

Golden diminished a U.S. President's daughter -- who happened to also be a keynote speaker of the 2020 Consumer Electronics show -- by rescinding her headlining gig, and putting her into the backseat of our technical school's graduation ceremony. And in doing so, he brought unnecessary negative attention and controversy to our alma mater.

Perhaps instead of being pushed out, he resigned because he realized his personal politics are not in alignment with the community's? That's possible. Regardless, it's best for all parties that he moves on.

The Ivanka Trump decision was just such an easy one to make (the correct one anyway) for a good leader. The Trump name is a "political lightning rod", but actually Ivanka isn't, and the words she would have spoken wouldn't have been political at all. To allow her to come, would have caused short term division, mainly(not all) in the student community, and would have disappeared quickly, but instead the wrong decision has caused long term problems that weren't necessary. Now someone has to repair relationships with long time serious donors. It didn't need to go down like that.

Possibly coming from North Carolina where politics are quite divisive (practically 50/50), he read the mid-west political climate wrong, where the majority is more accepting of Trump's brand of conservatism.

An open record request by KWCH appeared in the request log on Dec 23rd that is an agreement between WSU and AGB Searrch dated on Dec 10, 2020 - https://openrecords.wichita.edu/view...og/entry/1174/ WSU is paying them 65K, plus expenses, and the agreement has a payment schedule for the first 3 payments (payments toward the end of January, February, and March) and says the 4th due upon the completion of the search (they define completion as when KBOR publicly announces who has been chosen as the new president). So maybe late spring or early summer will be an announcement of a new president.
