Instead of doing mental donuts until smoke is pouring out your ears in order to conform to the mores of a tribe you never created and certainly do not control... have you ever just thought it all out logically and rationally from start to finish as if you were a total outsider bound by nothing besides logic?

    Let's begin:

    1) We have an actively mutating virus that is highly transmissible, highly disruptive in every existential way imaginable, and appears to be temporarily stifled by a vaccine w/ a diminishing efficacy.

What is the next logical step?

2a) Celebrate America's freedom from Britain by raising your fists and emboldening those who would reject a vaccine out of ignorance or downright selfishness.

    Or

2b) Support every initiative on earth (within reason - no blow torches) that seeks to end the pandemic in the fastest and safest way possible engaging in zero political dialogue and focusing on the guidance of epidemiologists and infectious disease specialists.

I'm okay to let you and your conscience hammer this out privately.
You call one side a cult, just presenting evidence to the contrary.

BTW, one side didn't want to have a dialogue on ways to handle the pandemic. One side did and still does censor any dissenting views on the best direction to go.

So, I guess, yeah there is a dialogue, unless you don't agree with the non-cult side.

BTW, my conscience is 100% clear. I'm vaccinated, living life and not worried about other people doing the same.

I agree, there's little dialogue to be had between citizen and doctor on the best way to mitigate disease in the midst of the worst pandemic in over a century.

You have that luxury. Meanwhile, there are people who worry about the state of things and those most vulnerable; very smart people with very good solutions. But they're having trouble dealing with the Neanderthals who clearly don't understand the score and have been deluded into thinking this is a civil war. They're running around with their clubs, foaming at the mouth, and spreading Covid to everyone.

I vote for tranq darts, followed by a vaccine shot, then handing them a gift certificate to Applebee's. Win-win!

Do you get to question these very smart people on anything? Do you get to question these very good solutions when they require you to bear a heavy burden? Or do we just do the uncult-like thing of blindly following our not corrupt leaders and not corrupt politically connected scientific community?

Do you not raise an eyebrow at all at the censorship on the subject at all? Do you not wish to inquire at all at some of the hair-brained ideas, if nothing else than to reinforce your own views?

To paint one side as you do is fine, but surely, even you must acknowledge that our government and political greed, corruption and control sought by our politicians should be questioned and doubted vigourously every second of the day. If their ideas are acceptable and rational to the population, then such debate should be welcomed.

If your way doesn't win, then thems the breaks. Welcome to America. It comes with great rewards, and also some risks.

Yes, if you are in a private conversation with your doctor about cancer treatment, you can be a dumbass and let it rot you from the inside out. That's your prerogative. But in a national emergency, like war, hurricane, earthquakes, floods, alien invasions, and pandemics... some rights will be temporarily suspended until the emergency passes. This is the way it has always been in civilized society.

These are very unusual times. And many of the situations we face today have never been faced before. Social media can and has been manipulated to distort solid, public guidance. You could compare it to someone moving a lighthouse around while ships attempt to navigate in the fog. The best advice from the top medical minds in our country is still THE BEST ADVICE. Makes no difference if it's ultimately right. It is the best bet at the time. When you have a bunch of political types (Trump) running around on Facebook, YouTube, etc. screaming hostile takeover of your rights, you need to shut them the hell up. Not one single thing is being changed in this country w/ respect to "Merica. We are in a temporary emergency. Nothing more and nothing less. Every single person in this country wants to get back to normal. Each time one of these propagandizing fools spouts out misinformation to their millions of followers, thousands more are harmed. Opinions are fine, explicit misinformation in an attempt to deceive simple people in the midst of a crisis is absolutely not. If Facebook et al wants to delete/ban those fools, more power to them.

We are not having a regular political debate. The political machinery has attempted to paint it that way (and they have unfortunately succeeded). We current have a VERY tenuous hold on a crisis that has the potential to spiral out of control yet again. There are VERY smart people working day and night trying to win this invisible war. Then we have idiots who are running around thwarting their efforts for what? What? Because they can? *SMMFH*

Yeah, welcome to America. Where we do have laws that must be followed - including during times of national emergency. Thems are the breaks. I would think you'd appreciate those "breaks" each time someone decides to slow down at a stop sign or not shoot a random person on the highway that cut them off. It's called civilization. We are in this together. There is a modicum of cooperation that is necessary to keep things from totally ****ing falling apart. And sometimes, if the cooperation isn't offered, it's demanded (see: laws).

This should have never gone down like this. There is nothing about a worldwide virus that should alert a person of any party to revolt. This was started by Trump, and finished by his followers who are now in a state of delusion. We are all fighting the same war. Wake up!

Trying times do NOT dictate that we hand over our rights just because. I'm sorry, but quite frankly, our government politicians and bureacracy has not earned the benefit of the doubt. Motives should always be questioned

There may very well be circumstances that compliance is demanded, but this ain't it. And if you think it is, you're the brainwashed. And you're in the cult.

As you can tell, I'm not super emotional on this topic. I am not tied to either position totally. I got the vaccine, I think it was the right thing for me.

If in 5 years, I drop dead because of missed side effect.... Them's the breaks. Thank God I lived in America.

                    • The last time shockernet had a DOFO of this magnitude, they were complaining of it only raining east of the turnpike. Check out PlaneShocker if you want a stroll down memory lane. Thank God for Cold. His incessant ramblings and the colorful responses by those who don't know his schtick and are compelled to take the bait make for good popcorn munching material.

                          • A 1905 Supreme Court ruling backing a city‑issued fine for refusing the smallpox vaccination provided a powerful and controversial precedent for the flexing of government authority.

The highest court in Massachusetts also rejected Jacobson’s claims, siding instead with the authority of public health officials to determine the best methods for fighting an epidemic. Not ready to give up, Jacobson appealed his case to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1905, where he was accompanied by officers of the Massachusetts Anti-Compulsory Vaccination Association.

In the case known as Jacobson v. Massachusetts, Jacobson’s lawyers argued that the Cambridge vaccination order was a violation of their client’s 14th Amendment rights, which forbade the state from “depriv[ing] any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” At question, then, was whether the “right to refuse vaccination” was among those protected personal liberties.

The Supreme Court rejected Jacobson’s argument and dealt the anti-vaccination movement a stinging loss. Writing for the majority, Justice John Marshall Harlan acknowledged the fundamental importance of personal freedom, but also recognized that “the rights of the individual in respect of his liberty may at times, under the pressure of great dangers, be subjected to suchrestraint, to be enforced by reasonable regulations, as the safety of the general public may demand.”

This decision established what became known as the “reasonableness” test. The government had the authority to pass laws that restricted individual liberty, if those restrictions—including the punishment for violating them—were found by the Court to be a reasonable means for achieving a public good.

“Bottom line, there had to be some kind of real and substantial connection between the law itself and a legitimate purpose, which was the public’s health, safety and welfare,” says Anthony Sanders at the Institute for Justice.
                            Welcome to MY 'Merica... Covidiots!

                            Get 'er dun Uncle Joe!

But in all seriousness. I'd like to see retailers and governments band together to require immunization ID's for entry. A bracelet would be a cool idea.
