First time to YaYa's last night for my wife and I's anniversary and the food was fantastic. The risotto is out of this world good. With an appetizer and after the tip, we were sitting at $80 all in. I'm not usually one for fine dining but that doesn't seem too unreasonable for an amazing meal for these days.

Used to frequent Yia Yia's back in the day. The duck polenta was so good!

Ya Ya's has been consistently way above good for decades now. And yes, the butternut squash risotto is spot on. So is the Figgy Piggy pizza. Up and down the menu, they rarely miss.

They were on Shark Tank about 10 years ago. They're located in a few major cities, in this case, Kansas City. This is the first time they toured down here. Social media pumped them up. if you follow Wichita by EB, he had all of the details of how it went down. They were at the Lowes on Ridge today and lines went clear across the parking lot, all day from 11 to 7. Some people waited over 4 hours in line. We thankfully got a tip about ordering ahead through the app and got a pickup time and bypassed the line. It was good. Would I have waited 4 hours for a $23 6-inch lobster roll? Absolutely not. But we had to try it once. They have a pretty limited and straightforward menu. They definitely hyped it up.

That seems pricy for a sandwich, but a lobster roll at a dive bar on the docks in Maine was 35 a few years back.

Literally lobster on a roll lol. They have a warm one with butter and lemon and a chilled one with some mayo.

Some time ago I had a meal in Vegas at the Palms. Restaurant was N9NE. Good place. Ate there early and it was not busy at all. I was convinced Phil Ivey was the only other patron in there at the time....still am.

They offered an Australian lobster...the tail was 3 pounds. It was $275. Seriously considered it for our group, but wasn't convinced it was going to be that good. Phil ordered it. It was impressive when delivered to that table. This was Mark's last year coaching...17 years ago? I suspect it would be $1500 today with inflation and Vegas pricing. I regret not taking the leap, but the steak I had was phenomenal. I wish I had been paying attention and I would have jumped at this Saturday.

Anybody get out and try the Cousins Maine Lobster truck?

We have one in the Louisville area. No other good options for a lobster roll here. I thought that it was pretty good (I had the warm roll with garlic butter). Waited in line about 1.5 hours. When I do it again, I will order through the app to get a specific pick-up time and avoid the long line.

First visit to Tacos TJ tonight and wasn't disappointed. The flavors reminded me of a restaurant in Mexico I went to a few years ago.

Also, I've picked up the Hawaiian plate at Hawaiian Bros a couple of times now. It's nothing to go crazy over but it's nearby and the chicken is tasty. I'll also add that they're extremely quick. Both times through the drive thru have taken less than 2 mins start to finish, albeit both trips were during non peak hours.

KAKE - Le Monde Cafe & Deli to close for good after more than 30 years

After recent struggles to stay in business, Le Monde Cafe & Deli in west Wichita is about to close its doors for good.

Restaurant owner Lilas Enjaya Krichati called KAKE News Monday morning to deliver the bad news.

Le Monde, near Central and West Street, has been a Wichita staple for more than 30 years. It will close on Sunday at 3 p.m., Lilas said.

In a push to get the tables filled in September, customers said Le Monde was one of their favorite restaurants. From the food to the staff, it was always a positive experience.

"It has been an honor to serve you for the past 30 years. As I reflect on this journey, it fills me with both gratitude and sadness," Le Monde said on Facebook. "Gratitude for the countless memories, connections, and shared moments that have defined these decades. Sadness, as this chapter comes to a close."

I have not been to Le Monde in many years but always enjoyed it back in my days on the West Side. 30+ years is a pretty good run for a restaurant.

A Wichita restaurant is a semifinalist for the prestigious James Beard Award.

Georges French Bistro has been named a semi finalist in the Outstanding Restaurant category. The award founded in 1990, is named in honor of culinary expert James Beard, the author of multiple cook books, and the first chef to ever cook on national television.

The first “celebrity chef,” Beard founded a culinary school in New York and was highly influential on other chefs, like Julia Child. Past winners of the award include chefs like Julia Child, Bobby Flay, Alton Brown, and the late Anthony Bourdain and his friend José Andrés.

Georges could be the first Wichita restaurant, and second Kansas restaurant to win a James Beard award.
