Starters that weren't signed late or free agents (maybe 5) were in for 3 series. Also Hudson came in on the second series and showed his inexperience when he and Cassell made a bad exchange (often when the center is so hyped, he is moving laterally to make a block before the exchange is completed). The fumbled exchange actually made it two series. The third series, they actually ran the ball nicely before Battle (not a starter either and probably won't be a ball carrier) fumbled. We'll learn a lot more in game 2 or 3. The Chiefs also had Quintin (i forget his name) running back the opening kickoff. He won't even be in the top 3 kick off returners and probably won't make the team. He wanted to impress so badly, he returned the kick from 7 yds deep in the end zone.

Quinten Lawrence was a WR. Todd Haley likes him enough to switch him from the heaviest position to a d back just so he didn't have to cut him. And Battle is one of the finest as a situational back that is out there. He has the ability to break off the big run every now and then. Both will make the final cut.People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do. -Isaac Asimov

On Gaither
As time passes, it seems more likely that Gaither's prediction of being a starter is a long shot. In fact, as difficult as it has been to keep Gaither on the practice field this training camp, it's becoming a question of whether the veteran -- he missed last season with a back injury -- will be worth a roster spot.
610 Sports Radio and ESPN.com are reporting that Chiefs rookie receiver Jonathan Baldwin has a wrist injury after a fight in the locker room with running back Thomas Jones. According to ESPN.com, Baldwin may miss the rest of the preseason.Rookie wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin was at today's afternoon practice, wearing a cast on his right arm that almost reached his elbow. The protective wrapping appeared to be thickest near Baldwin's thumb.

LOL. Nick Afton at Warpaint.com on Allison's show on KSGO said that Baldwin missed practice because he wanted the ball and Haley was feuding with him about it. It sounded like he got this information from players and he sided with Baldwin. The word from the NFL channel was that the players were getting tired of Baldwin's selfish attitude and Jones confronted him and took care of it.
I'm not sure I trust Afton's knowledge and access to information because often his statements and predictions don't pan out to be true although I often miss his show. Allison seems to trust him but I think that usually it's a waste of time to listen in my opinion.

There is no doubt that Charles is the best back on the Chiefs but he only weighs about 200 lbs. and backs in the NFL don't play very long. He got most of the carries toward the end of the year and in the playoff game. I think that the Chiefs will continue to utilize multiple backs although I think (hope) that they will play Charles more in the second half of each game trying to keep him from taking a beating and keep him from injury. They can do this because they have multiple quality options at RB. In my opininon, those that don't see this are missing the big picture.

Having LaRon, Cox, Jones, Charles, Battle, and Dex with all capable of picking up yards gives this team a VERY rare, dynamic, and diverse backfield. Nobody has the same style as the other and to prepare against them in the regular season will give the opposing Def coordinators fits.People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do. -Isaac Asimov

Credibility of the Chiefs takes a hit
The biggest egg, though, is on Pioli’s face. He spent most of the last two years preaching character and team-building and especially The Right 53 — a reference to fielding the right men, upstanding men, on the club’s 53-man roster. The first two years of the Pioli regime, the Chiefs drafted team captains and National Merit finalists. They were very clear that this was part of The Plan.
But all of that felt more like convenient rhetoric this spring when Pioli selected Baldwin, whose time in college included charges of indecent assault, harassment and disorderly conduct that were later dropped. That’s not to mention his public accusations that his coaches at the University of Pittsburgh were deliberately sabotaging his draft stock. It isn’t just Baldwin. The Chiefs used a third-round pick on linebacker Justin Houston, who reportedly failed a drug test before the draft.
