The more you post, the more you make sense. If UNI can win with Iowa girls, we should be able to win with Kansas girls.

I agree that the more local kids the better and it certainly can not hurt attendance. I also agree Lambo has done a good job recruiting local kids although I'm not sure I would go so far to say that recruiting local kids has been the key to Lambo's success on the court.

My list of local players that I would say have been key to our on-court success would include:
      Karen Augspurger, Maize
      Sara Lungren, Caldwell
      Andee Hartig, Great Bend
      Abby Harsh, Newton
      Camri Zwiesler, Newton

My list of non-local players that I would say have been key to our on-court success would include:
      Sara Younes, California
      Darci Vohs, Galva Iowa
      Jen Ray, Peublo, Colorado
      Elizabeth Myers, Blue Springs, Missouri
      Lara Geer, Grundy Center, Iowa
      Emily Stockman, Colorado Springs, Colorado
      Lindsey Eckenrode, Woodlands, Texas
      Kelly Broussard, San Antonio, Texas
      Mellissa Granville, Pilot Hill, California
      Mary Elizabeth Hooper, Plano, Texas
      Emily Adney, Golden, Colorado

I think Lambo has done a good job mixing the local and the non-local talent but the stars and key components have more often than not come from outside of Kansas. Perhaps that's splitting hairs.

That said we have had very little local representation on our Shocker women's basketball teams in recent years. However, I do not know if that is due to a lack of trying or other factors.

Also, the fact that our men's team does not have any local talent on the roster outside of our walk ons doesn't seem to be an issue.

I would like to have our roster full of Kansas kids, but that may or may not be critical to a successful program.

We have a little bit of a chicken or the egg problem with our women's basketball team. There certainly has been some quality local talent but our track record as a program is not exactly stellar. Again I'm not sure if the failure to sign local talent is from a lack of trying or other factors.
