  • Time of Opportunity (MSU, DU & CU on the Road)

The Shocks have a stretch of 3 road games that provide an opportunity to turn their season around starting tonight against 1st place and pre-season favortire Missouri State (on the tube tonight - Kansas 22 at 7:00).

They follow up next week at Drake, currently tied for 4th at 3-3 with the Shocks, Redbirds and Sycamores and 3rd place Creighton (4-2).

Last night Drake lost 77-74 at Indiana State and Creighton lost 70-57 at Illinois State the two teams the Shocks defeated last week.

Maybe a little bit of a pipe dream considering the Shocks have been horrible on the road for many years now. However, I thought they looked much improved in their two home wins over Indiana State and Illinois State last week (notwithstanding the 2nd half vs the Redbirds) and they have had some success recently against Missouri State winning the last 4 games.

OTOH, you know Missouri State is looking for revenge after losing 3 times to the Shocks last year and in the previous year's MVC Tournament. Hard to believe the Shocks can make it 5 in a row over the Bears.

    Good luck, Ladies!

Pound it inside, pound the boards and limit turnovers and the Shox will come out with a win!!! :yahoo:

Can't even type after that disaster. Do they have a plan? An offense. What is Sanchez' role? I think I'll stick with local high school games.

That was basically the women's worst game of the season when you look at their Prouty Rating. The first game of the season against Arizona, they had a TEAM Prouty Rating of 0.225. For this game, their TEAM Prouty Rating was 0.272. But in that first game their Win Rating was 0.000. So if you take away the Win Rating for this game (0.500), the TEAM Prouty Rating comes out to only 0.196.

Jessica Diamond, with a rating of only 0.317, had the best Prouty Rating for the game.

Just kind of leaves you speechless. The lack of basketball IQ on this team is simply stunning at times.

Even if you wanted to put a positive spin on this game I am not sure what it would be.

Not the 16-54 from the field (29.6%)

Not the 7-16 from the free throw line and being outscored by 19 points at the line.

Not being outrebounded 47-39 (16-11 on the offensive boards) and it sure didn't seem like it was that close.

Not our 6 assists to our 24 turnovers.

          Not having 9 shots blocked.

Wait, I have it. Thank goodness MSU did not play that well in the 1st half and that they were only 1-14 on threes for the game or it might have gotten ugly.

I'm not buying the "we're a young team" excuse anymore. We were just a bad basketball team tonight. No ifs, ands or buts.

Stellar performances by MVC road teams on Friday evening.

As bad as the Shocks were in losing to MSU by 30 a couple of other MVC teams were just as bad:

UNI stomped Evansville 69-37 for a 32 point win at home and the MVC put their best foot forward on Fox Sports Midwest as Bradley wailed away on Southern Illinois clobbering the Salukis by 36 (80-44) and Bradley was 1-5 in MVC games going into their game with SIU.

Being grouped with weak Evansville team and a really bad SIU team is not what I was looking for out of this Shocker team. A big step back last night after the nice home wins over INS and ILS last week.

I agree with not buying the young team nonsense. They need to get organized, have a plan and execute it. I still don't understand what they are trying to do.

Why the "young" excuse no longer applies:

Haleigh: 79 games of D-1 experience

Morgan: 51 games of D-1 experience + 2 years of JUCO

Jessica, Jazimen, Chynna & Michelle: Each with 51 games of D-1 experience

                Alicia & Heather: 18 games of D-1 + 2 years of JUCO

Breanna: 18 games of D-1 experience

And most have played signficant minutes in most of these games -- not just mop up minutes.

Young no longer applies IMHO. Time for accountability. A great time to start being accountable in next week's road games at Drake and Creighton.
