Clearly it was against lesser competition that Arizona, but it looks like some of the lessons on finishing games were learned. After having the lead get down to 11 (obviously still not a danger area) the Shocks responded with an 11-1 run. That was the run we never made when Arizona cut our big lead.
We still need better production out of our bigs, but I'm sure part of it is teams daring us to score from the outside based on last year's numbers. If we keep showing that we can, things should open up inside.

Morgan Boyd shot 24% from behind the arc last year. This year she is 4-6 in two games plus she was 4-4 in the exhibition game.
Shocks as a team are shooting 38.2% from behind the arc in two games. (42.6% when the exhibition game is included). The shot about 28% as a team last year.
It's early but looks like we will be much better from the perimeter this year.
Shannika Bryant scoring 6 points on 3-3 shooting against SIU-E was a nice bonus.

I thought her shot selection on the three-ball was iffy last year. Perhaps with the added legitimate threats in Alicia and Heather, she won't feel compelled to take the "iffy" shots this year. Though the sample size is small, I am glad she is off to the good start.

I agree. Her shot selection was not great last year. She does not seem to be forcing things as much this year. This year she will hit a few, then they get out on her and she is content to work for open shots for herself or her teammates. That's a great sign of growth with Morgan. Hopefully, it continues throughout the season.
