Jody stacked the deck a little in the Ladies scrimmage as she put her more experienced players on the black team and her newcomers on the gold team predictably resulting in a 16-6 win for the black team.
That said you can see the talent with the incoming freshman is there. I expect Krystle Henderson to make a very fine point guard for the Shocks, although she may back up Jessica Diamond starting the year.
Shannika Bryant got up and down the court better than I was expecting and as soon as she learns how to use that big body she can be a very effective player in the MVC.
Kelsey Jacobs was also very active and not afraid to mix it up although Kelsey probably needs some time in the weight room.
Note that both Kelsey and Krystle are recovering from ACL injuries and surgery late in their senior years.
This team was very good in transition last year, especially keying off of their defense. I see that continuing but the key to their success will be how well they can perform in the half-court. That's tough to evaluate in these short intra-squad scrimmages since each team pretty much knows exactly what the other team is trying to run.
