If this is a "do or die" season for Pooch and we just lost our #1 pitcher, Margo might have walked into a very tough situation. Unfortunately if our team era gets worse, which it will, Margo looks bad inspite of the fact that she would have less to work with.

I am looking forward to her working with the staff. But, I agree - I wish she had more to work with.

Pitching
A review of the Softball news archives showed this about one of the incoming recruits being a pitcher: Sloan Anderson is a left-handed pitcher from Glencoe High School in Hillsboro, Ore. In 2009, Anderson was a first team all-state selection along with being named the Northwest Oregon Conference pitcher of the year after going 28-3 with a 1.06 ERA. Her 215 strikeouts in 184 innings and .439 average at the plate helped lead GHS to a second place finish at the 5A state championships her junior season. Anderson has led the Crimson Tide to three-straight NWOC championships and a second place finish at state twice. She has a career record of 54-10 with 463 strikeouts and a 0.94 ERA. Anderson plays ASA softball with the Northwest Blaze and helped lead the team to the 2009 16U National Championship. In addition, Anderson has a 3.6 GPA and is ranked in the top third of her class.
“Sloan is a lefty pitcher who has great size and moves the ball extremely well,” Perniciaro said. “She is a proven winner and will be counted on to contribute right away.”

Hopefully, Sloan will be able to step right in and be at least somewhat effective. However, that is a lot to put on the shoulders of a 1st year player.
Remember that Kasha's numbers out of high school were unbelievably good and she had her difficulties her freshman year and every now and then her sophomore year.

Today's Eagle article confirms that the unofficial reports regarding Kasha were accurate.
WSU's pitching staff will need its defense to play well. No. 1 pitcher Kasha Kolb left WSU and is not playing softball, Perniciaro said. Freshman lefty Sloan Anderson joins sophomore Katie Armagost and senior Brianna Smet in the circle. Without a No. 1, new pitching coach Margo Pruis will experiment this fall by using two or three pitchers in a game.
"Each of our pitchers is different in what they throw," Pruis said. "It's going to be beneficial to switch them up a little bit."
I see nothing in the article that would alter Doc's last place predicition.
The Shocks may set a national record though for most pre-determined splits in a season.
