  • Lady Shocks at Drake

Because of Easter, this series is played on Friday and Saturday.

Drake has a record of 19-8. Their opening conference series with Illinois State was postponed, and they took two of three from Bradley. They are a preseason pick for fourth in the Missouri Valley and will host the conference tournament.

DES MOINES, IOWA ? The Drake University softball team's Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader with Wichita State has been moved from 2 p.m. to a noon start time on Friday, April 2.

Today's DH has been moved to noon, I assume to try to beat the same rain that passed through Wichita. But the online Weather Channel has rain at 85% at noon, and the projected radar has the rain moving through from noon to about 3pm. So we shall see.

As expected, we are now delayed until a 3pm start time.

DES MOINES, IOWA ? Drake's Friday doubleheader with Wichita State, originally scheduled for a noon start, has been delayed because of heavy rain in the Des Moines area. The tentative start time has been moved to 3 p.m.

Shocks take a 1-0 lead in the Top of 5th on a pinch RBI double by Iowa native Hillary Fort after Lindsie Mitts reached on an error and stole second.

Kasha pitching well so far. Can she hold on?

Drake got the tying run to 2nd with 2-out in the bottom of the 7th but Kasha got the final out to close out a 3-hit shoutout over Drake,

Shocks only had 3 hits themselves but managed to score the games only run on Hillary Forts RBI double. Kasha made it stand up.

Nice job Kasha. Good win Shocks.

Great job! It's amazing what can happen when you leave a pitcher in for a whole game. We scored though that's the main thing.

Breezy and Katie not so effective in Game 2 as each have allowed 3-runs as the Shocks fall behind 6-0 after 2 innings.

That's a huge deficit for our offense to overcome. I doubt that will happen.

Drake wins a 8-0 five-inning run rule in game 2. Shocks can only muster one hit.

Still a split puts them in position to win the series tomorrow.

Shocks knock of Drake 6-1 jumping on the Bulldogs for a 5 spot in the top of the 1st and then riding Kasha's second consecutive 3-hitter to a 2-1 series win on the road.

Nice to see the offense get untracked.

Kasha with probably her best weekend as a Shocker getting both wins.

She pitched 14 innings, allowing only 6 hits and 1 run while striking out 16.

                  Nice job Ladies.

Kasha's weekend has to make her a strong candidate for pitcher of the week in the Valley.

                      You called it "Moose:

ST. LOUIS- Sophomore Kasha Kolb went 2-0 last weekend to help Wichita State to a Missouri Valley Conference series win at Drake. For her efforts Kolb has been named the MVC Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced today.

                      Congrats to Kasha.

It would have been a crime not to give it to her.
