The Shocks were outrebounded 22-10 in the first half. Akron was not any bigger than the Shocks and they were not as athletic. However, that stat does reflect the relative amount of effort by each team in the 1st half.

The Memphis game is a winnable game if the Shocks give the same effort that they brought to bear in the 2nd half against Akron for the entire game (or at least a good portion of the game).

It would be nice if Chynna would buy-in on the effort front as we could sure use her.

Shocks getting boatraced in Memphis trailing 33-12 with about 8:00 minutes remaining in the 1st half. Haleigh just scored to make it 33-14.

A lot of time left, but making a comeback against Memphis will be a much more difficult proposition than coming back from an 11 point deficit against Akron.

            :(

Ok, I'll take credit for a reverse jinx.

Shocks rally to close the 21 point deficit to 6 trailing 37-31 at the half. Shocks closed the half on a 17-2 run.

The Shocks are now in reasonable position to pull out a win IF they play well in the second half.

The missed quite a few black shots in the 1st half and turned the ball over too much. If they can hit those shots more consistently and take good care of the ball in the seocnd half this game is winnable.

They must not let Memphis get off to good start in teh second half.

              :good: :goshocks:

Shocks down 12 with 11 minutes to go. Haleigh has just picked up her 4th foul.

Shocks down 18 now with a little over 6 minutes left.

Alex Winchell killing the Shocks going 6-8 from behind the arc. Maybe they will decide to guard her now although it may be a little late for that.

Shocks with a shot clock violoation.

Looks like the Shocks season is coming to a close shortly.

                        Final: Memphis 74 - Shocks 58

The final score is probably pretty fair indication of the difference in the teams.

The Shocks were really never in the game in the 2nd half.

The Shocks close out a up and down season on a down note.

Shocks showed some definite progress this year, but they also showed that they have a long way to go to be a good team. But I think we have a good base on which to continue that growth plus another nice recruiting class coming in plus Alicia Sanchez coming off a redshirt year. Hopefully, Alicia can bring some sorely needed perimeter shooting.

In other post season play involving MVC Women's teams:

Charleston 76 - Bradley 66 to knock the Braves out of the WBI in the second round.

The 3 MVC teams in the WNIT all had 1st round wins as follows:

                          Illinois State 57 - Butler 54
                          Creighton 76 - Stephen F. Austin 65
                          Missouri State 75 - Oral Roberts 53

                          In the WNIT second round:

                          Kansas 71 - Creighton 68

Illinois State 59 - Purdue 57 with the Redbirds hosting Kansas on Thursday. I would like to see another Kansas team eliminated by another MVC Team.

Missouri State 75 - Samford 54 with Casey Garrison scoring 32.

UNI takes on #1 seed Nebraska at 6:00 pm tonight. Might not be pretty.

UConn sneaked by Southern in their opeing round game 95-39.

Illinois State drilled KU 71-51 in the WNIT to end the Lady Jayhawks season.

KU suffers the embarrassment of having both their Men's and Women's seasons ended by MVC Teams.
