With that said, I hope the Shocker ladies make it to the World Series one of these years.
I guess you missed the Jennie Finch challenge.

The WCWS begins today in Oklahoma City.

      Georgia 1-3 Washington

Washington loads the bases with one out in the third, but Georgia escapes with 1-2-3 double play. But in the fourth, a two-out walk precedes a home run by the ninth place batter, and Washington scores first.

Georgia had runners in scoring position in the first two innings but cannot score until the fifth when two doubles close the gap to 2-1.

But the Huskies respond in the sixth. Again with two outs, three consecutive singles plate a run. The run scores when an ill-advised cutoff prevents a probable out at the plate on the throw from center field.

Washington closes the game in the seventh with a 5-4-3 double play. They score all their runs with two outs.

Danielle Lawrie, the USA Softball college player of the year, gets the win for Washington.

Is the softball world series like the little league world series in which you can get in for free?

In a word, NO. I will let you do the leg work and tell all of us what the session ticket prices are.

            Missouri 3-7 Arizona State

Arizona State scores three in each of the first two innings and stays in control the entire game. The Sun Devils took advantage of a hard infield with slap hits and bouncers through the infield to score the six runs on six hits and two walks given up by Chelsea Thomas, the freshman pitcher for the Tigers.

Missouri had a run-scoring double in the third and then brought in another pitcher in the bottom of the third (the same pitcher who won the deciding game in the Super Regional) who completed the game, allowing an unearned run in the fourth to make the score 7-1.

Missouri scored an unearned run of their own in the sixth and homered in the seventh to reach the final score of 7-3.

Hillary Bach, the freshman pitcher from Tulsa for Arizona State, allowed only four hits. The Sun Devils had thirteen hits, all singles, and eight of the thirteen were infield hits.

They now meet Washington tomorrow, and Missouri faces Georgia on Saturday in an elimination game in Bracket 1.

Hey, I have an even better idea. After you find out the ticket prices, why don't you get an advance on your allowance, talk your mom into driving down for a day and then give us all a trip report. That would be way cool.

I went to ncaa.com and saw all-session prices ranging from $60 to $100. With up to 17 games, that averages out to about $3.50/game to $6.00/game. I think they charged me more for a high school baseball regional game I went to. That's good that they keep them that cheap though. I couldn't imagine what the crowd would look like if they went any higher.

How much of the grandstand behind home plate is taken up by scouts?

Can't do it. Tix are too expensive. Why would I drive over 1400 miles to a little league softball game? lol. If I drove, I would be wasting about 200 all-session passes to the softball world series. That would be silly.

I gotta run. More exciting things on. The Spelling Bee is about to start.

                      Michigan 6-1 Alabama

Michigan chipped away early, scoring runs in the second, third and fourth. The Alabama pitcher, Kelsi Dunne, gave up a home run in the third, but the fact that she and the umpire could not agree on the strike zone led to walks that contributed to the other runs.

Nikki Nemitz cruised through the first four innings for Michigan, allowing only a single in the fourth. She loaded the bases in the fifth with three HBPs but got out of the jam. She gave up only three hits for the game.

Michigan plated three more runs in the sixth with base hits and sloppy play on Bama's part all being part of the scoring.

A double in the seventh scored Alabama's only run.

                        Arizona 0-3 Florida

Arizona, who has pitched by committee all year, starts Lindsey Sisk, who relieved in the first inning of the deciding game of the Super Regional and won the game. However, a two-run homer by Florida in the first and a lead-off homer in the second causes Arizona to make a change.

Florida's Stacey Nelson gives up singles to the first two Wildcat batters but shuts them down for rest of the game, aided by a pitcher's strike zone from the umpire. She strikes out a dozen on the game and allows only the two hits. That is, she records twenty-one outs without giving up a hit.

The Gators are stymied by Sarah Akamine for the rest of the game, but three runs early are enough.

Florida now plays Michigan tomorrow, while Arizona play Alabama on Saturday in an elimination game in Bracket 2.

Pay no attention to shocker fever, he has never posted anything of substance. He just goes from one forum to another trying to get people pissed off. I know he gets bored living in his moms basement and after he gets done with his paper route he can only watch re-runs on Nicleodeon or try to stir people up on the net. If you ignore him he will go away.

Gee, at least flyingMoose took it like a man (or woman).

Did I hit a soft spot?

I am out-of-pocket for much of today and tomorrow. If someone else wants to post game summaries, go ahead. If not, I may try to post something based on Gametracker on my return - for completeness, you know.
