  • wsu is very fortunate....

...to have a coach like Chris Young heading up the tennis program. It is pretty obvious that he has the Shocker women AND men headed in the right direction. Good luck at the Valley Tourney in Omaha!

I agree. Coach Young is a tremendous asset to WSU and the community. We are extremely fortunate to have him here.

Great Work Shocker Players and Coaches and congratulations on the well-deserved recognition:

OMAHA, Neb. - Wichita State's tennis programs stole the show at the 2009 Missouri Valley Conference Tennis Awards Banquet Thursday evening at the Regency Lodge in Omaha, Neb. Lutfiana Budiharto was named the Valley Women's Freshman of the Year, while Chris Young was honored as the MVC Women's Coach of the Year.

Results should be forthcoming for both the women and the men shortly.

The women not winning the title is practically unthinkable. Barring injury, it cannot happen.

The men should win today and have a chance to win it all...but it will be tough.

Both the men and women took the doubles point.

The women have 2 singles matches in the books as well.

Frankly, losing any sets (much less a match) today would be discouraging.

Reading the recaps sounds like both Shocker teams dominated their matches and pretty much cruised to their wins.

Hopefully, both can sustain the momo tomorrow.

The women's team could have played left handed and beat CU.

They face ISU Red tomorrow. They beat the Redbirds 7-0 earlier this year and in fact did not even drop a set.....and only gave up more than 3 in one of the singles matches.

One team is going to have to take 4 matches from the Shocks to prevent the Valley title. On the season, WSU was 46-3 in the Valley.

Sounds good, but over-confidence is generally not a good thing. Hopefully, the Shocks are focused, play hard and show no mercy.

Ladies picked up the doubles point against UNI in short, methodical fashion.

This one is going to be over quickly. Another Valley championship on it's way to Wichita.

Stephanie Dalmacio wins 6-1 6-1....it's all over but the shouting.
