If this is true, this could be a really long weekend ... and I assume just being in Carbondale made it long enough - the length of trip and ease of access, you know. :)

    True pitching battle so far.

KK in a bit of a pickle in the bottom of the fourth in a scoreless tie.

Update: 2 out double plates 2 (the first hit of the game for either team) after a walk and hit batter put 2 on. My guess is 2 runs will be enough to win this game.

Shockers being no-hit through 4. Only base runner has been Lauren Coleman who was hit by a pitch.

Kasha has given up only 1 hit. Unfortunately it was the 2-run double describe by Doc above.

Shocks break up the no-hitter on either a bunt or infiield single in the top of the 5th following a walk to Jamie Hull. Hard to tell exaclty what happens sometimes from the gametraker descriptions.

In any case, Shocks have two runners on and one out in the
        top of the 5th.

Shocks need to at least pull even in the 5th. They have 2 on and 1 out.

The pitcher they are facing seems to be the weakest of the 3 SIU will roll out so they better breakthrough here or it's going to be really, really tough.

Unfortunately the Shocks were at the bottom of the order and could not push across any runs in the 5th.

Both pitchers now working on a one-hitter. And both have faced only 3 batters over the minimum. Unfortunately for Kasha all 3 of her runners game in the same inning and the wrong order with the double following the free passes.

Overall, though Kasha working on perhaps her best outng as College pitcher.

Shocks with runners at 1st and 2nd via walks and one out threaten again in the 6th. Need a big hit or two here.

Heather Gerritse doubles to drive in one run and give the Shockers runners at 2nd and 3rd with one out.

                SIU making a pitching change.

                SIU 2 - WSU 1.

Got one home and the Dawgs brought in their ace.

Huge 2 at bats coming up.

SIU's Katie McNamara gets a stirke out and fly out to shut down the Shocks without further damage in the 6th.

Strikeout and flyout leave the runners stranded at 2nd and 3rd.

2-1 SIU to the bottom of the 6th. Shocks look to be toast.

Maybe should have used the suicide squeeze with one out. Of course, second guessing is easy although I was thinking Pooch might put it on that situation. He chose not to and unfortunately we did not put the ball in play with one out.

Tough loss for the Shocks and for Kasha who went 6 innings and gave up the 2 runds on SIU only hit of the game.

I think he has run the squeeze with Jamie before. Since she struck out on a 2-2 pitch, there may be bunt foul on a squeeze attempt in there.
