Lady Shocks v Indiana State (SB)

The Shockers (9-11) open Valley play this weekend with Indiana State (4-8 ) coming to town. We are a preseason pick for fifth in the Valley while the Sycamores are pegged for eighth.

Indiana State defeated Creighton, 4-3, and lost to North Texas, 2-1, in a mid-February tournament. But overall, the quality of their opponents does not rise to that of the Shocks. Not winning at least two games this weekend would be a big disappointment - in fact, I think winning all three is very possible.

Shocks take game one 8-1.

KK with with 5 shut-out innings for the win. Brianna releived KK after KK walked the lead off batter in the 6th and completed the game giving up only an unearned run in the 6th.

Shocks out hit the Sycamores 11-6.

Jamie Hull starts game 2. Gives up one run in the opening innining.

Kiersten Dixon homers in the bottom of the inning to tie the game after 1.

Brianna on in relief of Jamie with bases loaded and one out in the top of the 3rd.

One run scores on an error by Jamine Stanclift, but Brianna strikes out the next 2 batters to escape with minimal damage.

INS 2 - Shocks 1, middle of the 3rd inning.

Shocks tie it up by scratching a run across with a hit past the pitcher but leave the bases juiced.

2-2 going to the 5th where ISU gets a lead off double to put the pressure right back on the Shocks. ISU takes the lead right back 3-2.

Shocks have to get something here. Down 4-2 in the bottom of the 6th they get the leadoff runner on.

Sycamore error leads to a 1st and 3rd situation for the Shocks with nobody out still.

Somehow the Shocks score 2 on fielders choice...not sure how but 1st and 2nd now, 1 out, 2 in and the score tied at 4.

Somehow the Shocks score 2 on fielders choice...not sure how but 1st and 2nd now, 1 out, 2 in and the score tied at 4.

Kersti scored all the way from second on the slow bounder to the shortstop that she fielded near second base. She booted the ball a bit before getting the force, and Kersti never slowed down. There was a play on her, but she scored fairly easily.
