16 Lisa Senakiewich SR Michigan St. 4:40.91 02-13
17 Emily MacLeod SO Michigan St. 4:41.24 02-13

Even though Kipyego is by far the favorite, she will be running the 5000 meter finals on Friday night. The girls ranked #2, #3, and #4 ahead of Kellyn will also be running the Distance Medley Relay on Friday night. Kellyn, if she advances through the prelims, should be the freshest of the top 5 girls on Saturday.

    GO KELLYN!!!

Live video available at that site as well.

Kellyn's heat is underway. She is going to be tested big time as she will not be able to run away and hide from this group.

Kellyn is in 2nd right now.

Ok, Kellyn cruised, and I mean CRUISED to qualify in 4.42

          That was an IMPRESSIVE race.

She did not appear gassed at all. You had to be in the top 3 so they weren't letting her go. She had Kipyego under wraps most of the last 2 laps...Kipyego passed her right at the end but Kellyn appeared to have a LOT left.

Cannot wait to see the finals.

When Kellyn ran her 4:35:35 last weekend at Notre Dame it looked to me like she had more left in her tank.

I would expect the finals to be run at a faster pace, but from what I have seen of Kellyn she should be able to keep pace.

I would agree '72. I think Kellyn BELIEVES she can win. There had to be some question about that since she has not faced this quality and depth yet but the ease at which she ran the prelims has to give her even more confidence.

How cool would a national championship be??!!

She doesn't stand a chance! She'll probably come down with the flu or twist an ankle crossing the street. She is not a real big girl, so if she makes it to the race safely one of her competitors will probably push her off the track. If she does make it to the finish line the timekeeping device will go haywire and some cross-eyed NCAA official who also serves on the Volleyball selection committee will make the final determination of the winner.

Can I reverse jinx it anymore than that!

Oh, to answer your question, yes that would be way cool!

But not Saturday because of ESPN360? Unless you already have it? Or am I missing something?

I don't know about tomorrow....there was a "link" but I only clicked on the All Access and watched this afternoon's race.

I really hope that isn't the case tomorrow...I can't take being po'd anymore.

I believe it will be on ESPN 360 tomorrow and I think it's free. I think ESPN2 is re-playing it Monday at 1:30pm.

Yeah Kellyn looked very good. It will be interesting to see how much Kipyego is pressed tonight in the 5k finals. Kipyego is a real stud but I imagine Kellyn is feeling pretty confident after that prelim.

                        Way to go Kellyn!!!

When I tried ESPN360, I was told it was unavailable because my ISP did not provide it - or something to that effect. It did not sound promising.

Ahh I see, I did it from on campus at WSU and it worked. I'll try to give an update about the women's 5k and DMR's for the top girls Kellyn will race against in a bit.

The announcers are already talking about if Kipyego wins the 5k and mile she will break the record for most NCAA championships by a distance runner. She is in 2nd early with a girl from Boston U forging a tough early pace.
