Indoor Track - Jan 24 @Texas Tech

Shockers travel to Texas Tech this weekend for their 2nd indoor meet of the season. Tech has one of the more unique indoor tracks in the nation, here is a tour of the facility from Flotrack: http://www.flotrack.org/videos/speak...xas-tech-track

Lots of good newcomers debuted last week in the Heskett Center. I'd like to see the new sprinters continue to improve as well as the jumpers. Hopefully the rest of the crew has a good meet too.

Some good stuff at Texas Tech for the Shocker women ...

-Kellyn Johnson dominated the field to win the 3000m by 14 seconds (9:46)
-Kate Schaake solid Shot Put, right around 45ft.
-Erika Kovesi just under 40ft in the triple jump, the MVC looks tough in this event this year
-Brooke Demo struggled to only 11-9 in the Pole Vault but other girls like Marsh, Craig and Rosenbaum jumped well.
-Sasha Manuel and Brittany Hemphill ran pr's in the short hurdles and dash.
-Freshman Emily Ballock (400h specialist) and sophomore Lauren Eck (800 specialist) took 3-4 in the 600 yards with fast times.
-Freshman Danielle Walker won the 800 in a slow time (2:20) but it was good seeing her win that race.
-4x4 runs 3:50 for a nice early season run with 2 freshmen and 2 sophomores.

Lot of talent on this team, still trying to figure out how good they will be.
