  • Indoor Track Meet @WSU - Jan 16th

I know its the heart of basketball season but the track team is hosting the first ever indoor track meet at WSU (in the Heskett Center) in a week (Friday, Jan 16th). Its a triangular with Tulsa and Fort Hays. I believe women's bball plays Thursday and men's bball plat Saturday so it would be a great way to break up the weekend. The main part of the meet starts around 5pm and goes until 8pm according to the schedule. Here is more info ...

It'll be the only chance until the outdoor season to see one of the best teams on campus, I'm sure they'll beat Fort Hays and I hope they put it on Tulsa as well.

My impressions from the women's meet Friday night:

    - The WSU women look to be stronger than last year with several new athletes contributing right away.
    - Was sad to hear superstar freshman Audacia Moore has mono and may miss at least the indoor season. I'm sure she would've blown away the field in the 60.
    - Kellyn Johnson looked good in winning the mile and 800 with little competition in both.
    - Two newcomers, La'Taish Brown and Brittany Hemphill went 1-2 in the long jump, probably the most improved event for the Shockers.
    - Hemphill looked good in the sprints as well as another freshman Samantha Hallman in winning the 400.
    - Hurdlers looked great, Sasha Manuel is a junior and the best one but 2 freshmen right behind her.
    - Pole vaulters, led by Brooke Demo, look to be very strong.
    - Don't think the throwers threw great but they did go 1-2 and I'm sure they'll be strong as always.

    - It was a great meet, compact time schedule, and just about a packed house. Most of the stands were full and there was a great atmosphere. Hopefully next year there will be more meets because it was an exciting event!

Thanks for the report. I was wondering why I did not see Audacia Moore in the results.
