  • i try to be positive...but...

...i listened to the jody show tonight and it was painful for me...i LOVE her as a coach, but she is not yet a jewel in the booth!

    however...9-4...'nuff said.

When Jody first arrived, I attended the "formal introduction" by Eric Sexton in the practice gym, and it appeared to be a pretty painful role for both of them. (But he was brand new, too.) She made an (unscheduled - appreciated that) appearance at the pre-game dinner for season ticket holders earlier in the season to thank the fans, but she did not appear to be terribly comfortable then either.

As I have noted before, I think the post-game show is pretty bland. Last year, Shane Dennis could clear his throat, and Jane Albright could go for five minutes off that alone. :)

As you noted, we hired her to be a basketball coach and not a public spokesperson for the team. But it might be worth working on down the line.

agreed...jane's biggest asset was her speaking...a blend with her and jody would make a fine coach!

Speaking of speaking, I just had a nice discussion with a member of one of the women's teams photographed here: http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=BOWLING&p...pionshipTeams/ :D

WSU has and has had many great student representatives over the years. I think WSU students and alums deserve huge props; I'm proud to be a Shocker.
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Yikes! I am frightened at how many people I know out of that group....

Chris Barnes (mentioned but never pictured) is truly one of the very good guys and one hell of a champion.

The animosity between big red and Skibinski brings back memories.

I take some comfort in that none of you have a clue what I am talking about.

Me too Doc! Unfortunately, I'm older than all except one. I was a teammate of Paul Waliczek in the early days of WSU bowling.

                Great job Gordon and Mark!

                  Public Speaking

It's hard to follow what this tread is about! And, I find it pretty amazing that someone went to the trouble to start this thread with such a negative title! i saw Jody speak at the 1st Coaches luncheon back in Dec. She followed Gregg Marshall and did a real nice job. There was a big crowd there and she kept everyone pretty entertained. I used to speak a lot for my company before I retired, & it took me quite awhile to get comfortable at it. I'm sure it's somewhat the same for her or anyone else!
