Her first recruiting class will only be sophomores - at least a year early.
I know her first class will only be Sophmores, but that is a heck of a class. Also Siemens, Henderson, and Hoyt will be Seniors, Langster a Junior and I think Adams will get more out of her players than anyone else. I'm sticking with this prediction. Who knows we might get a nice transfer or two by then as well.
Henderson is currently a junior so she'll be gone.

Like the paper said, Kent State will be the first true test of her team, but I like what she is doing so far. She is not losing to cupcakes, and seems to have the team playing pretty good so far.

I don't intend to be ugly or mean-spirited with this statement, but IMHO, Coach Albright was competing with D-II and NAIA schools to build much of her roster. She was not competing with Creighton to get her kids. Being able to represent the school and the program well off the court is a given, but they need to be able to play some ball, too - and they couldn't at a sufficiently high level. It will take a couple of good recruiting classes to get the program going in the right direction.

But I am not down on the current group. As many of have noted, the staff has done wonders for Marcy. I intend to see all the games this year, and I am looking forward to their growth on the court.

I don't think it was necessarily a lack of talent with Jane as much as it was development.

The myth that Jane couldn't get good players continues to surface. Does anyone really believe that Creighton or anyone else in the Valley wouldn't have taken a Annie Wells or a Kiki Stevens? And as I understand it, Jody was trying to recruit Jaycie Hoyt when she was an assistant coach at SIU but Jane won that battle. The continual question from Valley coaches and fans was always, why can't Jane win with that talent. Whether you or pro- or anti- Jane Albright, it seems to me the frustration was never about whether she fielded a team with potential to be good but that she couldn't actually bring out that potential while she was here. The fact that Jody Adams immediately gets more production out of Jane's players than Jane did suggests that the problem was not primarily with the players. I think Jane's career record proves she can coach but there is no question that while she was at WSU she could never get her players to perform at the level they were capable of. That's why ultimately she had be replaced.

I am not making myself clear - I am not talking about a player here and there - I am talking about enough players to sustain a program.

I understand. But we are talking about the MVC. Even the top programs have just a couple of very good players and then the athleticism and skill drops off considerably. Over the last few years, during conference play, I almost never looked across at an opposing roster and thought, "We just can't compete with them physically or talent wise." On the contrary, we generally looked like the more athletic team top to bottom. The difference was in the lack of discipline we showed in running an offense (and quite possibly offensive design as well), the amount of turnovers we made, and the sense that others teams were better conditioned than we were.
