Ok I'm not a big womens bb fan. Yeah I used to go watch Darryl Smiths teams from time to time because they won initially. He was also a physical presence and his sideline routines were fun to watch. However he did not recruit well and he won with Linda Hargroves recruits. I watched a few games of the Jane Albright tenure and was not impressed. In fact they were down right painful to watch. With JA at the helm at least these women are competitive and entertaining. Are they the well oiled machine I think that in the years to come they will be? No. I think that over a very short time the women will be competitive in the valley and will be a regional force. Just my two cents worth. Yes I plan on being there for the Kent State game. Go Shox

Careful now ...
According to RPIRatings.com the WSU women's basketball schedule is currently ranked 332 out of 340. Coach Adams has assembled a very forgiving schedule; a smart move when trying to rebuild a very bad program.
Do I think Coach Adams is a good coach? Yes.
Can future conference and regional competitiveness be projected after 8 games vs. a very weak schedule? I don't think so.
I HOPE you are right, but the data doesn't support a conclusion so soon.

I there is some projectability here.
First, consider recruiting. Marisah Henderson was a great get in a transition year. According to one recruiting website, next year's class is already the best in the MVC.
And seeing what she's been able to do with only 10 players (and now nine) is fairly remarkable.
I haven't seen a game yet, but from all the eyewitness reports it sounds like this team is already playing higher quality basketball than what we saw the last couple of years from Albright.

I don't know for sure, but I doubt Coach Adams was hired in time to have much, if any, of an impact on this year's schedule. The strengh (or lack thereof) of this year's non-conference schedule has been pointed out and discussed for some time now.
This is what makes the Kent State game of particular interest to get a better measure of how much progress we may have actually made under Jody and how we might fair in the MVC.
My personal view is next year is Jody's true 1st year as this year is HCGM's true 1st year.

I didn't mean to project any disrespect for Coach Adams when pointing out the SoS this season. I'm just not ready to claim MVC or regional influence of WSU women's basketball. I don't expect any coach who takes over a program as late as Coach Adams did to be able to truly make an impact until she starts bringing in her own recruits. I'm optimistic and ready to be impressed.
I posted more than a few times here how the previous coach's tenure had outlived any useful purpose, and I applaud Mr. Schaus for finally recognizing as much - albiet 2 or 3 seasons late.
Whether or not Coach Adams built the schedule herself, I don't think it hurts the program one bit to knock-off a few cupcakes, nor does the long homestand hurt - more time for practice instead of travel. Wins always feel better than losses, regardless of the competition.
Good luck to the Lady Shocks, I'm ready to support competitive women's basketball at The Chuck.

One of the things I was pointing out was that the style/skill level of bb played is better than it has been in the recent past. Previous teams could not buy a bucket against any oppnent no matter what their rpi. I believe I did post a conversation with a couple of tennessee fans about JA. They felt she was going to be able to get things turned around quickly in light of her recent accomplishments in coaching circles. They said no one would ever out work her. Don't know if that will translate to success but I get warm thinking about the possibilities.

There is just a entirely different approach to how things are done and the manner in which they get done.
If there is any truth in the recruiting news (I have only the additions that Jody was responsible for to gauge their accuracy), then I have to believe that our team success is going nowhere but up, and fast.
