After a 1 season trip to Normal, it's time to return the trophy to it's proper residence right here in Wichita.
What will it take? For the most part, more of the same. We have quality in almost every program. What kept us from the title last season were the basketball programs and both should be improved, if not markedly.
A quick glance:
Volleyball-at or near the top.
Men's CC - question mark.....maybe near the bottom.
Women's CC - should be 2-3.
Women's tennis - probably will win.
Men's tennis - should compete for top 3 finish.
Men's basketball - mid to lower half likely.
Women's basketball - lower 3rd probable.
4 track competitions - I really am not sharp enough to know but I would expect that we will be in the top 3 all 4 times.
Baseball - will be picked 3rd and we'll finish 1st.
Softball - could be really good if Kasha is as good as anticipated (and I hear she is). Top 4.
Men's Golf - Dustin Garza may compete for All America. Probable title.
Women's golf - Should be improved but lower half finish likely.
As usual, a combination of titles and no clunkers (ie basketball last year) is a pretty reliable recipe for winning this.....will we have enough? I'll say this; if we do then we'll win it for at least the next 2 or 3 years as all the programs have a lot of youth.
