Albright's last two jobs were products of her Northern Illinois connections. Schuas and the AD at Nevada both worked with Jane. I have a feeling that unless she makes some drastic changes - she could end being fired by both of her Northern Illinois connections.
Here is something interesting...WSU's very own Darryl Smith was hired a year ago by Nevada. This year, Nevada had their best season in history but in May, the staff resigned for personnal reasons.
Personally, if I was a Nevada fan....I would be wondering if we could do any better. When we hired her it seemed like a steal....now...I just don't know.

ShockerLady--Thought you might be interested that I heard thru a WAC contact that Daryl is planning to go back to Division II in California. No school in particular was named, but it sounded like he had found a job. If i remember correctly, his parents were from California, so that might be a great location for him.

I think we all wish Jane well. There's just a lot of instability in the Nevada athletic department right now. Besides the women's basketball position, here's what has happened just in the last month:
-- The women's softball coach left to take the head coaching job at Indiana:
-- The head athletic trainer left for an assistant AD/athletic trainer job at Boise State. The strength and conditioning head left for private business.
-- The men's golf coach resigned after an internal investigation revealed he had provided meals to players and an airline ticket to one player. The NCAA is investigating the possibility that he may have also bet on sports:
-- Two players were kicked off the Nevada football team after DUI arrests:
Besides all of that, the women's soccer coach was fired last year. She claims it was in retaliation for blowing the whistle on possible NCAA violations. And just a couple of months ago, the president of the university fired a professor who supported the women's soccer coach and had also blown the whistle on USDA regulations regarding treatment of research animals at university. Both the professor and the coach have pending lawsuits against the university:
From a wins-losses perspective, the Nevada job is attractive. They went to the WNIT last year and finished 18-12. That was the first post-season appearance in Nevada history. But with all this other stuff going around, I think the university was looking for a safe pick. Someone with experience to keep things going in the right direction and integrity that wouldn't bring any more attention to the program. Jane fits that description. And it doesn't hurt when Pat Summit and Geno Auriemma give recommendations either:

I don't know how the courts in Nevada operate but I will not be surprised if the fired professor wins his lawsuit. Remember former WSU and UNA president Eugene Hughes lost a lawsuit in a "weaker" case (i.e. raises rather than termination). UNR sounds like a really messed up place. I know someone who used to be a professor at UNLV and that place has serious issues too. Nevada is about the last place where I would wish to live. Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.
