Nice come back Ladies. Nice to win one in our last at bat for a change and nice to beat a team that finished below us in the standings.

A 2-run game winning single by Cynthia Verhulst with one out in the bottom of the 7th provided the tying and winning runs.

Brianna Smet (6 innings) and Jamie Hull (1 inning) pitched for the Shockers giving them a fresh All-Conference Ashly Bright for the next game this afternoon vs #4 seed Drake at around 4:30.

Jamie Hull has started Game 2 for the Shocks and gave up a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 1st.

Apparently, Ashley Bright is either injured or ill. Anyone have any info on this?

Found my answer in the Wichita Eagle:

Scoring will have even greater importance if standout senior pitcher Ashly Bright cannot take the mound in today's game. Bright has been battling injuries the last week and will be a game-time decision.

Lady Shocks fall to Drake 8-4 in the second round of the MVC Tournament and undoubteldy ended their season.

Shocks really had little chance in this Tournament with Ashley Bright who pretty much carried the team all year.

Shocks had a somewhat inconsistent up and down year despite a very good statistical year by Ashley Bright.

In addition to Ashley Shocks will need to replace some key position players in Katie McGeeney and Britnee Barnett plus the bat and power of Cynthia Verhulst.

High School Superstar Kasha Kolb will probably be our #1 starting pitcher next year, but replacing the offense output of McGeeney, Barnett and Verhulst may be tough. We need to find/develop another dependable pitcher to go with Kasha.
