Shox travel to Normal to face the white hot Redbirds, winners of 7 straight in Valley play.

Double dip today. Lady Shox are riding the capable arm of Ashley Bright into the last of the 7th, clinging to a razor thin lead, 2-1.

Shox again, seemingly UNFRICKING believably, give up a walk off home run after Bright dominates the entire game.

    Just sickening.

3-2 Redbirds. Bright struckout 15 (ties her own school record) and walked 2.

In the last 20 days the Shox have

1)lost to Evansville 5-4, giving up four runs in the last of the seventh. A 2 out double propelled the Aces from a 4-3 loss to a 5-4 win.

2)lost to OSU after scoring a run in the 8th, by giving up 2 runs after 2 were out and no one on base, with a walk off double. An error also helped to change the outcome.

3)took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 7th at Indiana State only to give up 2 more in the bottom of the 7th on a 1 out 2 run walk off homer.

4)lost to Illinois State today 3-2, again in the last of the 7th with a 1 on and 2 out walk off homer.

I can't tell if this is a snakebitten group or they just can't seal the deal.

It has to be monumentally frustrating for the team and staff right now.

Does softball ever utilize the "closer" concept?

Sounds like we could use a differently look on the mound in the last inning or two.

The Cardiac Shox as I will now refer to them, were at it again in the second half of the doubleheader today.

Leading 2-1 they give up two runs to fall behind 3-2 going to the last inning.

Again the Shox forge ahead with a 2 run double from Junior Jessica Spencer in the top of the 7th.

On comes Ashly Bright to try and shut down the Redbirds. This time, however, it was good morning, good afternoon, good night for ISU.

Shocks get the split and at least have a chance to win the series tomorrow.

Looks like the Shocks will need to win the MVC post season tournament to get into the NCAA Tournament this year.

Really head scratching on how many games have gotten away from the Shocks in the opponents last AB.

Yet another heart breaking loss today despite the usual fantastic performance from Ashly Bright.

Ashly struck out 11, walked 2 and gave up 2 singles in pitching a complete game but an infield single, passed ball and 2 sacrifice flies accounted for the game's only run in the 1-0 Redbird win to take the series 2-1.

Ashly becomes only the 3rd Valley pitcher all time to record at least 300 strikeouts in a single season. Every K extends her career school record, currently standing at more than 500.

The inability to place the bat on the ball has cost both the baseball and softball teams this spring.

10 games remain before the Valley Tournament. After a twin bill on Thursday at KU the schedule is favorable for a strong finish if the ladies can get at least a little hitting. They are perfectly capable of winning the Valley tourney if they score at least a couple of runs.
