The Shocks employ the 5 infielder defense against Bradey's lead off hitter, Kelly Kapp, a lefthanded hitter who more often than not is bunting. The Shocks know its coming and she still reaches safely more often than. Mackenzie Wright is right down her throat and still can't seem to gwt her out. Kapp bunts for a base hit again to lead off the Bradley 1st.

Bradley puts on a hit and run (or run and hit maybe) and a line drive to RF is caught by Paige Luellen who throws to 1st to double up Kapp. jenni strikes out the next batter and ends up facing the minimum.

The Shocks go down in order and meekly again in the 2nd. Bradley's got if figure out. Soft stuff for strikes that WSU won't offer at, get ahead in the count, fastball just oustide the strike zone.

Jenni gives up a lead off walk and a 1 out single. Runners advance to 3rd on a comebacker to Jenni. Gets out of the inning on a soft liner on a half swing to 2B.

One thing with jenni pitching the Shocks are pretty much in a constant of risk with opposing runners on base. Today is just a continuation of yesterday and so far Jenni is making it work.

In the Shocker 3rd Mauriana Jamele strikes out on a 1-2 count on a change up above her head. I think she had to jump trying to hit that ball.

Mckenzie Adams strikes out on a 2-2 changeup on a check swing.

Ashley Johnsn strikes out on a 3-2 pitch with a very tentative swing.

9 up, 9 down for the Shocks. Hopefully, we will see some adjustments the 2nd time through the order. Right now the Shocks look clueless.

Jenni gets the 1st two batters in the Bradley 3rd but then gives up a triple and a single and Bradley takes a 1-0 lead.

15 up, 15 down for the Shocks. The only balls that have been hit solidly by the Shocks are a few foul balls. Nothing even remotely hard hit between the lines.

Jenni gets her 2nd consecutive 1-2-3 inning.

Score remains 1-0 Bradley affter 5.

Bottom 3rd of the order due up for the Shocks. Although it really has made no difference what part of the order has been batting.

Bradley's Julie Kestas going for a perfect game in the 7th.

Mackenzie grounds out to SS to on a 3-1 pitch.

Kelli bounces the 1st pitch back to Kestas for an easy out although Kestas almost pulled a Katie Malone.

On a 2-2 pitch Madison ripped a pitch down the 3rd base line to end the perfect game and no hitter.

Macklin Hitz flies out to RF to end the game.

                Bradley 1 - Shockers 0

Too bad the Shocks allowed a very solid outing by Jenni to go to waste.

Congratulations to Julie Kestas on executing a great game plan. In addition, to the things I mentioned earlier Bradley discovered that the Shocks don't like fastballs on the inside corner and Julie did a good job of taking advantage of that.

Indiana State helps out everyone by getting 1 in the 5th to get back in the game against Missouri State, 1 in the 6th to tie the game at 2, and 1 in the 7th to get the 3-2 win.

Illinois State will finish the sweep against Loyola, leading 15-0. Evansville looks to sweep Drake, leading 6-3. SIU and UNI tied at 6 in the 6th.

Shocks really need to win this, but they are being no hit into the 7th.

Sounds like some adjustments need to be made in the hitting cage, and quickly.

It does appear the book is out on how to pitch the Shocks (at least if you don't have over-powering stuff) and, if executed well it has been effective. No evidence that the Shocks have made any adjustments when they are pitched this way or even an indication they feel a need to adjust.

I'm not at all saying there's a need to panic, but EVERYTHING is about to get a lot more competitive, so now would be a good time to try some new things and step up your game.

Southern Illinois takes their game with Northern Iowa, 7-6.

Illinois State is at 9-3. The Shockers, Missouri State, Northern Iowa and Southern Illinois are all at 8-4. Evansville at 7-5 is the only other team above .500.

Having not played any of the above except Illinois State, the Shockers could easily finish anywhere from first to sixth.
