In the learn something new every day category:
In the Shocker 5 run sixth Nebraska replaced their starting pitcher, Cassie McClure, after she walked the leadoff hitter. Her replacement, Kaylon Jalbonski walked the next two batters and gave up the 2-run seeing eye single to Ashley Johnson. She had a 2 ball count on Mckenzie Adams and Nebraske brought McClure back into the game to try to quell the rally. McClure took a warm up pitch which caused HCKB to protest. Apparently, the rule is that when a pitcher re-enters the game in the same inning they departed they are not allowed any warm up throw. HCKB was correct and Nebraska was penalized a ball as a result making the count of Mckenzie 3-0. McClure did throw a couple of strikes to get the count to 3-2 but Mckenzie drilled her triple to RC scoring the tying and lead runs.

Thanks for adding your eyewitness comments. Very helpful. I saw bits and pieces of the video stream but mostly followed on live stats.

In the Nebraska fifth, the Shockers might have escaped with no runs scoring. A chopper up the middle was deflected by Jenni (they originally gave her an error, but changed it to a hit which is right - scoring issues again). If she had not touched the ball, Laurie had an easy force at second and possible DP at first. But you want your pitcher trying to make plays, so these things happen.

Shocks overcame their defensive mistakes tonight but they could make things a lot easier on themselves if they can cut down on those fielding and throwing mistakes.
