Katie takes over in the circle to start the sixth. Jenni gave up one earned run on five hits and three walks in her five innings.

The Grizzlies bring a new pitcher of their own to start the bottom half, but the Shockers could only muster a two-out single.

    Still 3-1 after six.

          Game Three

          Shockers at Tulsa

Katie is the starter, and she has a majorly shuffled lineup behind her. Laurie-6, Kelli-7, Mauriana-4, Madison-2, Macklin-DP, Mackenzie-5, McKenzie-9, Ryleigh-3, Ashley-8. Meinen is the starter for Tulsa.

Each team scores in the first. Laurie leads off the game with a home run. For the Golden Hurricane, a single and double plates a run.

          1-1 after two.

With one out in the fourth, Madison and Macklin single but no one can push them around. Tulsa can push their runner around in the bottom half - in a big way. A single is followed by a sac bunt and home run.

The Golden Hurricane leads 3-1 after four.

In the Shocker fifth, Tulsa changes pitchers after two batters (a walk and fielder's choice) in what appears to be an effort to give the Shocks a different look the third time through the order. It worked, but it didn't. A steal of second by Ashley and an error on Kelli's ground ball scores a run.

A double and ground out advance a Golden Hurricane to third, but she is thrown out at the plate on another ground ball.

Tulsa's lead is now 3-2 after five.

With one out in the Shocker sixth, Macklin and MackenzieW walk. McKenzieA follows with a two-run double for a Shocker lead. After another out, Cassidy delivers a pinch-hit single that scores McKenzie.

Three runs are home for the Shocks, and I have to leave home. Catch up with this later.

Shockers lead 5-3 after five and one-half.

In the bottom of the sixth, Tulsa has a walk and single but Katie gets a K to end the inning.

In the seventh, Tulsa loads the bases but another Katie K ends the game.

                  Shockers 5-3 Tulsa

Katie gives up seven hits and four walks in the complete game win, ending two late threats with strike outs. She had six for the game.

The Shockers also had seven hits. Laurie had the lead-off homer, and McKenzie had the other extra-base hit, a double that drove in the tying and lead runs. Nobody had more than one hit.

The Shockers play a single game against the (currently) 12/12 LSU Tigers on Thursday before beginning the conference schedule by hosting pre-season favorite Drake on Saturday and Sunday.

Jenni seems to rounding into form, so the pitching will be close to what was expected. The offense has slowed some lately as the pitching is better than what the Shocks saw earlier in the season.
