3 up and 3 down for Nicholls State in the 1st, same thing for both in the 2nd and WSU went 1-2-3 in the top of the 3rd. Still 1-0 Shocks, bottom 3.

Didn't want to say anything but Katie took a no hitter into the bottom of the 5th before surrendering a 1 out double. She stranded her though and we're into the 6th, still 1-0 Shocks.

        New Score - 3-0

Laurie Derrico just went deep with a 2-run shot. Kelli Spring was on board after getting a single, & stealing 2nd.

The Shocks added two more runs in the seventh. Bethany Canada walked as a pinch-hitter. McKenzieA tripled home Ryleigh who had re-entered and MackenzieW singled home her "twin." Katie allowed a lead off single in the seventh, but the Colonels did not score. The Shockers go undefeated in the tournament at 5-0 with Katie getting all five wins.

          5-0 Nicholls State

The night's rest did Katie good - a two-hit shutout with no walks and six strike outs.

The Shocks had nine hits. Laurie had the homer and a single for three RBI, MackenzieW and Kelli both had two singles and Paige and McKenzieA had extra-base hits, a double and triple respectively.

Oklahoma comes to town next Wednesday.

            Other Sunday Game

            UMKC 1-10(5) UT Arlington
Clakley finally gives up an earned run but still gets the easy win.

I really don't know how other Valley teams fared this weekend but I think you could wager that Katie Malone will be the Valley Softball Pitcher of the Week and feel pretty good about that bet.

A record of 5-0 allowing only 4 earned runs in 28.1 innings for a 0.99 ERA and 32 strikeouts.

Bailey is not hurt - just had a bad weekend. Jenni should be back soon, but who knows how soon she will be up to speed. It would not surprise me to see all three pitchers get a few innings against Oklahoma if Jenni is available.
