The #49 Lady Shocks will be heading to Stillwater, Oklahoma for NCAA Regional Play and will take on #19 Arkansas on Saturday, May 13th.

The Lady Shocks and Lady Razorbacks met in February with Arkansas winning 4-0. I wouldn't say Arkansas dominated the Shocks but they won pretty handily.

Not a match you would expect the Shockst to win but it should be great experience for a team with only 1 senior in its Top 6 plus 3 freshmen and 2 juniors. And you just neve know I guess.

The winner will most likely get #9 Oklahoma State who plays unranked UMKC in the 1st round match.

Good luck Ladies. Play Angry and Play Well.

In advance of the Shocks' NCAA match vs Arkansas tomorrow morning Sully cranks out an excellent article on the Shockers young but very successful Shocker head women's tennis coach Colin Foster and his wife/assistant Kewa. Seems like a somewhat similar situation to Chris and Shannon Lamb.

Seems to me like the move to the AAC has motivated Sully to step up his already very good game. He is really putting out some good stuff since that happened.

Colin and Kewa are REALLY good people. I've enjoyed getting to know them over the last 9 years or so. We're fortunate to have kept them in Wichita this long imho.

Men's tennis coach Danny Bryan and his wife Jade are wonderful people as well. All four can often be found at various WSU events. Introduce yourself, say hi. You'll be glad you did.

@WuShock16: and I often talk about guys outkicking their coverage in the spouse department. Colin and Danny are great guys, but come on fellas....aren't you running up the score just a tad? :poster_wu:

The Lady Shocks ended their season in Stillwater this morning with a 4-2 loss to the 19th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks.

In the doubles the Shocks won the #1 doubles with #84 ranked Gabriela Porubin and Fatima Buzhokova defeated the #28 ranked Arkansas duo 6-4. Arkansas took the #3 doubles 6-3 and then edged the Shockers in the #2 doubles 7-5 to eke out the doubles point.

The Shocks pulled upsets in the #1 and #2 singles with Giulia Giudetta defeating #45 Shannon Hudson 6-1, 6-1 and Freshman Buzhokova defeating #64 ranked Ana Oparnovic 6-4, 6-1. However, the Shocks were unable to win any of the other singles matches.

Another successful season for the Lady Shocks comes to an end. The good news, however, is that the Shocks lose only 1 senior off of this year's squad.

Very nice article on Shocker Gabriela Porubin's play in the Fed Cup for her home country Moldova.

Including Wichita State 10 of the 12 American Conference Women's Tennis teams received team honors. Only Houston and Memphis did not.

Wichita State was one of 7 American Conference schools that received team honors for both their women's and men's tennis teams (Houston & Cincy do not have men's teams). Not sure how this compares to other conferences but seems pretty darn good to me.
