Didn't feel like starting a new topic for this, but the article give interesting insight into the conditioning changes (once again Jody reminds us of Marshall in almost every way).

In addition, apparently both Kayla Rice and Haleigh Lankster are still coming to WSU. Aside from having heard good things about them, particularly Rice, this is good considering how many scholarships we have to fill and how little time Jody has had to recruit before the signing period.

      Sully

You know, sometimes things just come off written different than they do when you see them in your head, or type them out.

Adams has four scholarships to fill and wants to use them in the signing period that begins Wednesday.

I guess the option of not filling 4 scholarships was tempting, but she has decided she needs more than 9 players.

Just a light hearted observation. :D

Actually it makes perfect sense. It wouldn't be unreasonable for Jody to hold back a scholly or two if she instead of using it on someone who is not really a player she would want for 4 years, and instead saving it for when she has a full year of recruiting to do.

Early last season I had the opportunity to visit with a close member of the women's staff and that person was appalled at the conditioning, or better yet lack thereof, of the team. I know this person was not only stunned but frustrated throughout the year with this shortcoming and the inability, or unwillingness, to address said shortcoming.

I would expect that we could easily see the level of turnover that we witnessed in the men's program before the next season is underway. It is not unreasonable to expect that some players will not be able (or perhaps willing) to adapt to the new regimen.

Dr ... I suspect you are right on with your assessment, and if they can not meet the challenge, should they even be there? I like Jody's nononsense attitude we are getting a glimpse at.

She is going to inherit some players, that might be borderline, so I hope she does dish out 4 schollies in the next month or so. Lets hope she can develop all her players individually and as a team.

I'm pleased, although not terribly surprised, that Kayla Rice and Haleigh Lankster are still on board despite the predictions by some that they would be gone.

The fact that Jody has 4 scholarships available does confirm that one of our players, believed to be Jennifer DeGarmo, will not be returning. Not sure why Jennifer decided to leave.

Coach Jody Adams took over on March 26 and immediately decided the Shockers were soft, physically and mentally.
Sounds like changing this is Jody's first priority. I'm sure part the reason for the early morning pracitces is to develop discipline and mental toughness.

As Doc said, this may result in some player defections. On the other hand, it is a new start for everyone and I think the players are ready for a new direction.

I like what I am hearing so far and I'm hoping most of the players will decide to hang tough.

That is true and is the same situation Coach Marhall is in. Do I use the scholarship now or can I get a better player if I hold off unitl next spring.

Keep in mind DSB that the women are allowed 15 scholarships. So we have 11 of those filled at this point.

At a minimum I would think Jody will want to fill at least two more and it sounds like she will try to fill all 4 remaining slots. My guess is that at least 2 of the 4 will be Juco signings.

She will have 4 more scholarships to fill next year as Daria, Marcy, Whitney and Frannie will be seniors this coming year.

Didn't Marshall have several "meet the public" events when he first arrived? Will Jody?

On conditioning (in the Eagle), I guess Jane was even worse than I realized. Best of luck to Jody.
