  • 2016 MVC XC Championships - Saturday, 10/29

Bradley is the pre-meet favorite to win the Valley women's XC Championship receiving 5 of 10 first place votes and a total of 93 points in the voting. UNI received 4 first place votes and 88 points and the Lady Shocks also received 88 points in the voting despite receiving only 1 first place vote.

Bradley most likely received 5 first place votes, 3 second placed votes and 2 third place votes.

UNI probably received 4 first place votes and then something like 2 seconds, 2 thirds and 2 fourths.

The Shocks had to get at least 6 second place votes and a couple of thirds to go along with their one first place vote.

Doesn't appear to be a clear cut favorite on the women's side.

    Go Shocks!

You all know the story of the Wright Brothers, Orville and Wilbur.

However, not too many of us may be familiar with the Wright Sisters.

The Lady Shocks could not take advantage of Shocker Sophomore Rebekah Topham's 1st place performance together with Senior Emilea Finley's 4th place finish and Senior Sidney Hirsch's 8th place finsih as the just held on for a 3rd place finish in the 2016 MVC Women's XC Championships edging out Indiana State 82-86.

Northern Iowa won the Championship with 52 points and Bradley was 2nd with 64 points.

The Shocks depth simply could not hold up as the Shockers 4th and 5th best finishes were 29th and 40th.

Topham's winning time was 17:24.8 which was 9.6 seconds ahead of the runnerup. Rebekah was crowned the 2016 MVC Women's XC Athlete of the Year.

Congratulations Rebekah although I'm sure the Shocks as a team were a bit disappointed they could not cash in on the strong performances of their top 3 runners.
