Shocker ladies finish 4th in the MVC Chamipionships.

Shocker Senior Mica Land (out of Andover) was voted the meets most outstanding female athlete with wins in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, the 1,500 meter run and the 5,000 meter run.

Jenny Snyder had a double with wins in the 100 meter and 400 meter hurdle events.

    Kudos to Mica and Jenny.

Some incredible performances by Mica and Jenny at the MVC. The ladies fall 3 pts short of Illinois State for 3rd. Next year they get back some of these redshirted women and a great recruiting class. Good luck to those competing at regionals! Let's get some Shockers to NCAA's!

Some great stuff for the Shockers at the NCAA Regionals at Lincoln, Nebraska this past weekend:

--Mica Land broke Sarah Becker's school record in the steeplechase and finished 4th, qualifying for her 2nd NCAA meet.
--Brooke Demo finished 6th in the pole vault, just missing the auto qualifying mark, but ranks high enough that she should make it to NCAA's.
--Jenny Snyder just missed making the national meet, finishing 6th in the hurdles. Her time probably isn't high enough to make the meet. What a great career she's had!
--Erica Evans broke the school record in the javelin, but like Jenny probably is just shy of making the NCAA meet since she finished 9th.

        Great job ladies!

Official entries for the NCAA meet come out tomorrow.

Mica Land placed 2nd in the 3000m steeplechase prelim and will run in the final Friday at 7:10pm. You can watch her live on CSTV (College Sports TV), the live action begins at 7:00pm. Good luck Mica!!!

Brooke Demo cleared 13-1.5 in the pole vault but needed to make one more bar to advance to the finals. Maybe next year, great year for Brooke!

'74, did you catch her time?

And how was the race run.....did she finish strong and have a bunch left in the tank?

            Thanks as always!

Mica ran 10:12, which I think is only about 2 seconds off the Olympic Trials qualifying mark. She should have an excellent shot of getting all-American Friday.

Didn't see the race, only heard the results.

Land finishes 10th in the finals at NCAA's. She did finish among the top 8 Americans so she will earn her first all-American award of her career. Congrats Mica on a great meet and a fabulous career!!!
