Shocks are at #18 Tulsa today and are about halfway through the 3 doubles matches with all 3 very close.

Here is a kink to a combination Live Video and Live Stats. Scroll down below the video to see the live stats.

Nice streaming system but not wild about the live stats system because completed matches seem to disappear. I can't tell who won the doubles point.

The singles are underway and it appears this is going to be a real dogfight. The doubles point may be the deciding factor. I just don't know who owns that.

It appeared (but the scores from the streaming video have since disappeared) that the Shockers won four of the singles matches, making the doubles point moot.

EDIT: Or maybe it means that since all of the singles matches were played out, that the doubles point was lost.

The Shocks did win the doubles point making the final score of the match 5-2. Another very nice win for the Lady Shocks.

The Lady Shocks also played ORU yesterday and came away with a 4-0 victory to push their record to 17-3.

Report from goShockers.com on the Tulsa and ORU matches:
TULSA, Okla. – The Wichita State women's tennis team – No. 13 in the Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Tennis Rankings – won a top-20 battle at No. 18 Tulsa, 5-2, and later added a 4-0 victory over Oral Roberts, Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The Shocks are now 7-3 against opponents ranked at the time of the match. 6 of those matches were road matches, 3 were neutral court matches and only 1 was a home match. 4 of those opponents are currently in the Top 25.

They also went on the road and gave Missouri and Nebraska their first losses of the year. Missouri and Nebraska were not ranked at the time the Shocks played them but they have moved into the rankings since at #57 and #69 respectively making them 9-3 against opponents currently ranked. 8 of those matches on the road.

Rebecca Pedrazzi is this weeks Valley women's tennis athlete of the week as the Lady Shocks continue to dominate this weekly honor this year.

BTW, the Shockers win over #18 Tulsa this past weekend was the 1st win over a Top 20 team during Coach Colon Foster's tenure.

Some damn nice tennis facilities at Tulsa:

The Lady Shocks, coming off a 2 1/2 week layoff since their 4-1 win over #65 K-State on March 14th, take down another ranked opponent beating #48 Texas-Arlington 4-0 today.

That finishes the Lady Shocks non-conference schedule with a excellent 18-3 record against a very strong schedule. The Shocks were 9-3 against ranked opponents.

The Shocks now head into conference play which I would not expect to be nearly as tough as their non-conference season where they are no ranked opponents.

Considering their last conference loss was almost EIGHT years ago (4-11-08 at Indiana State 2-4) I would tend to agree.

The 7-time defending Valley Champion Lady Shocks opened the defense of their Valley crown with a dominating 7-0 whitewash of UNI today at home.

The 22nd ranked Lady Shocks won the doubles point winning all three doubles matches 6-4, 6-2 and 6-4 the proceeded to totally dominate UNI winning all 6 singles matches in straight sets. In fact, the Shocks lost only 12 games total in the 12 sets played.

The Lady Shocks have now won 71 consecutive dual matches in Valley play.

                          :encouragement:

Mike Kennedy reported on the post-game show following the Shocks baseball win over MSU that the Lady Shocks beat Illinois State 7-0 this morning then drove over to Peoria this afternoon and shut-out Bradley 7-0 as well as the Lady Shocks continue their domination of Valley women's tennis.

Shocker So. Giulia Guidetti, who generally plays #4 singles for the Shocks, tied the school record for wins in a season as she is now 34-5 on the year.

If I am tracking this accurately that extends the Shocks Valley winning streak to 74 matches.

Unfortunately, the level of play in the Valley is pulling the Shock's national ranking down. They had climbed to #14 in the ITA rankings a month ago after successfully dealing with a very tough non-conference schedule but have now fallen to #26 after 4 Valley matches although this was anticipated.

The Lady Shocks Tennis team (5-0, 22-3) close out the regular season hosting Evansville (0-5, 8-17) at 9:00am and Southern Illinois (5-0, 13-9) at 1:00pm this Saturday at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.

Evansville plays at Missouri State on Friday and SIU finishes it season at Missouri State on Sunday.

Obviously, the match against SIU on Saturday is the key match of the Valley regular season. I don't think the Shocks having to play last place Evansville Saturday morning is necessarily a disadvantage as they have done that 5 times previously this season and are 10-0 in those matches. In fact, it could provide a good warm-up for the Shocks.

Looks like the weather will be very nice Saturday. Might be a great time to catch this very fine Shocker women's team in action. The Shocks do host the Valley Championships this year at the end of the month.
