The Shocks open in their 1-2-1-1 zone press that has not really been seen much this year. Sabrina and Diamond are starters. After falling behind 7-0, the Redbirds call at TO at the 8:02 mark, having six turnovers.

The Redbirds have the lead 14-12 after the first quarter. They also lead in turnovers 12-10. Ugly basketball. Illinois State made their comeback with some nice dribble penetration. Both teams are shooting about 38%.

Last time I checked we were down 16... Not sure I'm gonna do much more checking.

The Shockers trail at the half 38-25 as the Redbirds created a number of good looks and upped their shooting percentage to 57%. The Shocks did not create many good lucks in the half-court and are shooting at 37%. TaQuandra has seven and Aundra and Diamond each have five.

At 5:50 of the third quarter, Hannah Walk-on is in the game. That speaks volumes. Earlier in the quarter, the play-by-play guy talked about multiple line changes. Hockey. Basketball. It has been hard to tell the difference at times.

Lost by 21. 49-70 I think... Guess the team picked last wasn't exactly what the doctor ordered today. I know there was a very large free throw discrepancy, but I saw a lot of the lady shox reaching on defense and not moving their feet.

                  Illinois State 70-49 Shockers

And the Redbirds are not a good team. TaQuandra had twelve and Rangie had eleven. The Shocks shot 39% and the Redbirds shot 56%. The Shocks had 31 turnovers, while the Redbirds had 30.

The Shockers are not going to be a good team anytime soon. They are young (only Jaleesa played much last year), and a whole lotta teachin' has to be going on. Maybe returning home will help.

Given that Sexton is being replaced as AD, one has to believe that personnel decisions with regard to Head Women's Basketball Coach will include bouncing Jody Adams, no?

IMO, as an alum, she does not represent Wichita State in a manner I am proud of.
                      Basketball Season Tix since '77-78 . . . . . . Baseball Season Tix since '88

Very unlikely IMO as long as the player treatment issues of the past are not repeated. Those issues were reportedly addressed in depth after the player departures at the end of last season lead by Dr. Bardo and procedures to avoid a repeat have supposedly been put in place. If WSU was going to terminate HCJA it would have been at that point. Having survived that and considering her 5-year rolling contract that includes a $500,000 buyout it would appear HCJA will continue to lead this program for the foreseeable future.

I have to admit I was surprised by this past weekend's results. I certainly wasn't expecting to see 2 blow-out losses to these two teams. Nevertheless, I don't think one losing season will have much, if any, impact on HCJA's job security at this point. She will be given ample opportunity to rebuild.
