  • Shocker SB at Tulsa

The Shockers travel to Tulsa on Tuesday for a 5pm game with the Golden Hurricane. Tulsa is a pick for second in their first year in the American Athletic Conference which fields seven teams. Teams in this conference range from UConn in the east with Tulsa and Houston being the westernmost teams. UCF is the pick for first in this conference.

The Golden Hurricane were 21/22 in the preseason polls but are currently not receiving votes. Their current record is 19-10 with losses to Oregon and Baylor among name teams.

The leading hitters for Tulsa are Brittany Walker (OPS of 1.338), Julie Kernen (1.267 and eight HR) and Erica Sampson (1.046). Three pitchers share their innings on roughly a 40-32-28 basis. The "worst" of the pitchers has an ERA of 3.84 and a WHIP of 1.48.

The Shocker hitting (not including Sunday's game) is led by Brittany (1.140) and Liz (.948). Katie had a rough weekend, but she is still our best hope in the circle, carrying an ERA of 3.83 and a WHIP of 1.49.

Katie gave up three runs in three innings, Ashlynne gave up three runs in 0.1 innings, Kelsey gave up one run in 1.2 innings and Jenni gave up two runs in one inning. Maybe you could claim Kelsey distinguished herself, but the run she gave up was the backend of a two-run homer. She did pitch a three-up, three-down fifth for the Shockers.

Brittany had a solo homer, and Cacy hit a two-run shot. Mackenzie and Macklin had RBI singles.

Drake comes to town this weekend. This ship needs to get righted soon.
