Alex seems to me to have the skills and athletic ability to perform at this level. Do you think she has a desire to play professionally?

Alex Harden - WNBA

Bob Lutz in an column he wrote about Alex on January 8th reported that Alex wants to play professionally next season before starting medical school. Whether that would be in the WNBA or not remains to be seen. Whether a WNBA team would be interested in signing her under those circumstances I couldn't say. I suppose she could head to Europe to play a season of professional ball.
Harden, from Springfield, Ill., wants to play professionally next season and plans to move closer to her family, which is now in Alabama. She’s going to take a year, she said, before starting medical school.

This web site projects the Alex will get a shot at the WNBA as an undrafted free agent. The Ladies apparently have 3 rounds in their draft but since there are only 12 teams that is only 36 players drafted compared to the 60 drafted over 2 rounds in the NBA.
Full round 2015 WNBA mock draft projections, with trades and compensatory picks based on weekly team projections and college and amateur player rankings.
Personally, I think Alex would make an outstanding point guard in the WNBA.
Cal's Brittany Boyd is a 1st Team All-American and projected to be the #11 pick in the 1st round of the WNBA draft. She is a very good player but I thought Alex was more impressive than Brittany in the Shocks NCAA game. There were several times in the Cal game where Alex simply blew by Boyd in that game. You surround Alex with the same kind of talent that Boyd had around her and Alex would do very, very well indeed.
The one area of her game Alex needs to improve on is her perimeter shooting but even without that she can be a very good player at the next level.Last edited by 1972Shocker; April 8, 2015, 11:08 PM.

Former Shocker WBB head coach Linda Hargrove is on the staff of the ProHoops WNBA Combine.
Not sure that has any impact on Alex's chances of playing in the league just find it mildly interesting.
Apparently their are multiple combines and none of them are sponsored by or directly tied to the WNBA.
Not sure how valuable these camps are. Maybe more so in getting a spot overseas than in the WNBA. The following comment would seem to fit Alex to a T.
"The European teams want the American that does everything. We look for the power forwards, the centers, the scoring point guards. Those are the swing players."Last edited by 1972Shocker; April 9, 2015, 04:35 PM.

Here is a very interesting find that I have to give credit to @flyingMoose for finding it and pointing it out to me:
2015 WNBA Draft Prospects: Evaluating the Mid-Major Prospects
Kind of a long article but if nothing else check out the next to the last paragraph:
But Alex Harden looks like the strongest prospect on this list based on the numbers alone. She's a very well-rounded wing who helped Wichita State get to the NCAA Tournament three years in a row. As Corwin notes, a 3-point shot would really round out her profile, but there's a lot going for her.
The other thing that probably gets undervalued in these assessments is defense. And as good as Alex is her defensive ability may be her most outstanding attribute among her many and varied talents on the basketball court. Futhermore, Alex showed great poise and leadership in her Shocker career.
The article is correct in noting that a consistent 3-point shot would round out her game. However, I see no reason she could not develop a consistent 3-point shot. She has a very nice shooting stroke.
I apologize if I stole your thunder @flyingMoose:.Last edited by 1972Shocker; April 16, 2015, 04:53 PM.

There isn't a pot of gold at the end of the WNBA rainbow like their is for the NBA.
Here some info on WNBA salaries: http://www.altiusdirectory.com/Sports/wnba-salaries.php
@flyingMoose has suggested that Alex might be better off just getting on with her medical studies. He may be right. Playing in the WNBA is certainly not a road to riches by any means.Last edited by 1972Shocker; April 16, 2015, 06:41 PM.
