Shocks go on a 12-2 run that included back-to-back 3-pointers by Alie Decker to take a 48-46 lead with 8 minutes remaining.

Jamillah has not been playing. Alex and Michaela hanging in there with their 4 fouls.

Shockers survive an injury to Jamillah (apparently it happened in practice) and 4 fouls on Alex with 17 minutes to play and 4 fouls on Michaela with 13 minutes to play to pull out a 62-54 win at Indiana State.

Actually a pretty impressive effort by the Shocks considering all the adversity they faced. Again though shows their lack of depth and vulnerability to injury and fouls.

Alex had 6 points with about 8 minutes remaining but turned it on to finish with 17 points supported by Kesley with 16, Michaela 14 and Alie 11.

The Shocks came back in the 2nd half to win the rebounding battle 36-33. However, the Shocks did have more turnovers than Indiana State (13-12) which is very unusual but with Jamillah hurt and Alex in foul trouble the Shocks defense was certainly handicapped.

Not a huge statistical game for Alex but she came through under duress when she was most needed. A POY worthy performance.

Indeed, although those things were already in place coming into today's game. The big prize today was keeping the Shocks at-large hopes intact just in case they don't win the Valley Tournament next weekend.

Alie and Kelsey came through when we needed them. Good minutes for Brittany. Chapel is athletic, but has a long way to go in understanding the game; when to shoot, when to hold it, etc. Champions win games when your best players are in foul trouble. BINGO. Best Shox team in history.

Kelsey and Michaela held the fort for the first 38 minutes of the game. Alie's back-to-back treys gave the Shocks their 1st lead of the 2nd half 46-44 with about 10 minutes left in the game. Alex then took over and outscored the Sycamores 11-6 over the next 6 minutes to put the Shocks up by 7 with 4 minutes to play. Alie hit 3 of 4 free throws and Kesley hit 2 of 2 free throws down the stretch to preserve the grind it out win for the Lady Shocks.

Drake seems to be grinding here at the end of the season. Right now Missouri State may be playing as good as anyone in the conference heading into the Tournament. Illinois State with a surprising double-digit road win at SIU screwed up the Valley's symmetrical standings. SIU fell off down the stretch as well.

Shocks will play the winner of the Bradley-Loyola game in the Valley tournament quarterfinals. If the Shocks win that they will play the winner of the UNI - SIU game.

Missouri State is the #3 seed is and is on Drake's side of the bracket.

The last 3 years the Lady Shocks have stumbled down the stretch although the last 2 years they did manage to hold on for co-championships. This year's team was probably the thinnest team of the past 4 years in terms of depth but they hung in their through a grueling season when Alex, Kesley, Jamillah, Michaela and Alie logged a ton of minutes. The ladies have shown a tremendous amount of toughness and deserve a ton of credit.

The Shock's dropped their RPI to 38 with today's win over Indiana State.

I doubt that we can afford to lose to either Loyola (#306) or Bradley (#318) in the quarterfinals. Even with a win in those games our RPI probably goes up.

We might still have a shot at an at-large if we were to lose in the semi-finals to either UNI (#118) or SIU (#164) but that would probably have us squarely on the bubble at best.

I feel pretty good about the Shocks at-large chances if they make it to the Championship game.

I have no idea what the extent of Jamillah's shoulder injury is but obviously it was a big issue today.

Glad to hear that it is nothing too serious. Hopefully we can get as healthy as possible going into post season play.
