The Shockers scored three in the top of the fifth. Brittany singled and Liz walked. With two outs, an error on the infield scored Brittany, and Melanie delivered two more runs with a double.

The Cardinal tie the game at four apiece in the bottom on the inning on a bunt single, triple and ground out.

      4-4 after five complete.

Time to leave for The Game.

In the Shocker sixth, Ashley and Kelli reached on errors. Ashley scored on Brittany's fielder's choice and Kelli scored on Liz's sac fly.

Only one of the Shocker's six runs was earned. Mackenzie had three hits, and Melanie and Liz had two RBI. Katie gave up nine hits and one walk and had four strikeouts.

Unfortunately, GT was working for this game. Katie started this game but was taken out in the second after yielding eight runs, only three of which were earned. (The Shocks made six errors!! in the four innings of UCLA at-bats.) Jenni gave up three earned runs in an inning plus, and Kelsey pitched a scoreless inning. The Shocks managed three singles off Ally Carda, probably the ace of the Bruin staff.

The Shockers play their last game of the tournament against Utah Valley at 1130am Saturday.

Kelsey has the start against Utah Valley. Layne is in left and Brittany is the DP today.

The Shockers score in the top of the first on an infield single by Kelli who advances to third on a throwing error by the third baseman. She then scores on a groundout by Brittany. Kelsey lasts four batters - walk, home run, single, single - before Katie is on in relief.

Utah Valley leads 2-1 after one.

The Shocks tie the game in the second. Macklin reached on an error and advanced when Mackenzie was hit by a pitch. After Melanie advanced the runners with a sac bunt, Layne drove in the run with a single.

                        Tied 2-2 after two innings.

The Shockers put up a three-spot in the fourth. Mackenzie singled and, after stealing second, was moved to third on a sac bunt by Melanie. Ashley brought Mackenzie home with an infield single, and Cacy followed with a two-run homer.

                          Shocks lead 5-2 after four.

The Shocks put up another crooked number in the fifth. Brittany walked and Liz doubled. The Wolverines changed pitchers and the new pitcher wild pitched in Brittany. Liz scored on a sac fly by Mackenzie.

In the sixth Ashley walked. After a couple of fielder's choices, Kelli was on first and stole second. Brittany then doubled her home. Utah Valley scored in the bottom of the sixth on a home run.

                            Shockers 8-3 Utah Valley

Liz had three hits including a double, and Cacy had a homer with two RBI. Brittany also had two RBI. Katie pitched seven innings in relief, giving up one run on five hits and a walk. She fanned six.

A 3-2 weekend against that competition was much better than the previous weekend. Still concerned about our pitching behind Katie.

A definite Yes on the pitching. This weekend, we beat the teams we should beat and then "stole" one from Stanford. And we got pummeled by the teams we should have lost to.
