I think Mackenzie played SS today because Kelly Spring is out with a concussion.

It will be interesting to see who is in the circle for the start of the Baylor game. My guess is Ashlynne Neil.

Update: Wrong as usual. Jenni Brooks starting in the circle for the Shocks vs Baylor.

Jenni gets the start for the Shocks against Baylor while the Bears have their best returning pitcher, Heather Stearns, in the circle. Layne is the outfield and Erin sits; Macklin sits and Kelli is at short with other infield positions shuffled around.

Looks like the Shocks will have quite a challenge. 6 up and 6 down so far for the Shocks. Jenni pitched a scoreless 1st but had to work around 2 walks.

After the first walk, there was a lineout to 1B, and the runner advanced to second. Sounds like we went to sleep.

Jenni gives up a homer in the second. After a double, single and walk load the bases, an error by Liz at second allows two more runs to score, both unearned.

Shocks trail 3-0 after two complete.

Impressive rally by the Shocks as they plate 4 in the Top of the 3rd to go up 4-3.

The Shockers get a four-spot in the top of the third. A single by Ashley, an error and Cacy's run-scoring double started the inning. (Both of Cacy's hits today have been to left.) A wild pitch scored Kelli who had reached on the error, a triple by Brittany plated Cacy and Mckenzie's first hit as a Shocker scored Brittany. Shocks lead 4-3 after two and one-half.

In the bottom of the third, the Bears get a single and a double. On some sort of continuing action (the throw to get the out at home came from the 3B), the lead runner is cut down at the plate. But a walk and a single score the tying run and brings Kelsey Sterneker to the circle. Welcome to the Big Leagues, Kelsey! She gets a popout to left to end the inning. Tied 4-4 after three.

In 2.2, Jenni gave up six hits, four walks and two earned runs. Three of the six hits were for extra bases.

A bunt single, walk and three-run homer gives the Bears a 7-4 lead after four innings.

:) I would hate to start my collegiate career against a team ranked #10!

In the fifth, Brittany gets a single for the Shocks, and the Bears get a walk, but Melanie throws her out on an attempted steal. On to the sixth inning with the score still 7-4, Baylor.

Agreed. The nerves had to be a factor for Kelsey as well as from Mackenzie Wright today.

I don't know how they score softball, but common sense says all 4 Shocker runs should be earned. The wild pitch may have scored one, but a triple and a single after certainly scored her anyway. And I don't know how the error happened but it could easily be 5-4 I think.

Looks like the ladies are keeping it interesting against a top 20 team.
