Very nice road win by the Lady Shocks. Earlier in the year we would only get scoring from maybe 2 or 3 players in a game. Now we are consistently getting 4 players into double figures and have come close to 5 on several occasions. This kind of balance combined with the D the Shocks play makes them pretty tough to beat.

Drake had to go to OT but they did pull out a 92-89 win of Missouri State to remain tied with the Shocks. Showdown Sunday will pit the best defense in the Valley (the Shocks) against the best offense in the Valley (Drake). A real clash of styles. Should be a very interesting game.

Not sure what to expect on Sunday. Drake isn't going to hang 90 on this WSU team. But Wendell is obviously really good. Should be a great game.

On the upside Wendell played 42 minutes and Ingle played 40 for Drake while in our game (due to foul trouble) Alex played less than usual, with what I assume is a season low, 32 minutes.

I did not get to watch the game all that closely so I was planning on watching the replay of the game in any case. However, one stat in the box score that caught my eye was that UNI was credited with 10 assists on 16 baskets while the Shocks were credited with 13 assists on 31 baskets. That may well be the case but it just seemed to me like the Shocks would have a bigger advantage in the assist department.

I think what that mostly says is that there was 1 team that could get baskets by having players attack their defender off the dribble and 1 team that couldn't.

Good observation. Okay, now the 2,147 in attendance. Obviously those cheap Volleyball/WBB Combo season tickets at work.

I guess we can thank the refs for a couple of very, very questionable calls on Alex in the 2nd half to put her on the bench with 4 fouls around the 11:00 minute mark for keeping her minutes down. Although overall I thought it was a pretty well officiated game.

We just ran them off of the floor. Kelsey is having such a nice senior year. Leads the Valley in assist to turnover ratio and in the top 20 in many statistical categories. We have four in doubles and can have five. I don't think Drake will be handle our swarming defense. I noticed Kelsey left the game and the trainer was attending to her, so hopefully no problems. UNI face guarded Alie and wouldn't let her touch the ball; I guess they didn't realize we have other players who can score.

In the 3 minutes that Alex went to the bench with 4 fouls at the 10:46 mark and the final 2:45 of the game after Alex, Kelsey and Jamillah went to the bench UNI scored 19 points or just a little over 3 points per minute. In the other 34 minutes when the big 3 were all, for the most part, on the floor the together UNI scored 33 points or about 1 point per minute. These 3 seniors are the engine that makes this Shocker team go especially on the defense which is clearly the foundation for this Shocker team.

                            On Super Bowl Sunday:

Shocks (17-3, 8-0) @ Drake (12-6, 8-0) in a battle to see who remains unbeaten in Valley play.

Loyola (2-17, 0-8) @ Illinois State (0-19, 0-8) in a battle to see who remains winless in Valley play. In fact, if Illinois State does not win this game you wonder if they will go winless for the entire season.

Actually decent smattering of Shocker fans here and a really good crowd considering it's Siberia outside

Pretty entertaining half too. Hopefully we can wear them down, they have some big girls

Now THERE'S a fan folks. Makes the trip to Cedar Falls and catches the girls on the way home.

We should ALL be such good fans.

Feel pretty good about the half. I hate to say it's kind of like yesterday, but all we have to do is make some shots. WSU had 8 more field goal attempts than Drake but made the same number, and Drake had 2 more of the 9 makes be 3s, the difference in the score.
