Shocker Softball Picked to Win the Valley in 2015

The Lady Shocker Softball team was picked to win a 2nd consecutive MVC Softball title in a vote of the league's coaches.

Not really surprising considering we have the bulk of a very good offensive team returning from last year plus our No. 1 pitcher.

The Shocks received 7 first place votes with ILS, UNI and Drake receiving 1 first place vote each.

I suppose the key to repeating as Valley champs will be how our pitching holds up which pretty much goes without goes without saying in fast pitch softball.

It will be quite a challenge for Cacy Williams to top her 2014 year as a Shocker.

Many school records were broken by Williams including batting average (.424), slugging percentage (.812), on-base percentage (.531), total bases (138), runs scored (57), home runs (16) and RBI (47).

Yes, she is no longer a surprise, having been through the conference a year. Any pitch she sees on the inner half will be a mistake. You could see that approach in the MVC Tournament game they played last year - away, away, away. But Cacy is strong enough to drive the ball out the other way. It is just a matter of changing technique a bit and taking what they give you.
