All I know is we need a great performance tomorrow to take the sting out of the EWU game and to get out of Jody's doghouse, which the entire team is currently living in.

It will be interesting to see how the Ladies respond. They deserve to be in the doghouse after the performance against EWU, however, Jody is not blameless with respect to that performance either.
I am not sure how good of a measuring stick Texas-Arlington will be however. The were 4-25 last year (3-25 in the SunBelt) with an RPI rank of #334. They lost 4 senior starters including their top 3 scorers and a top 2 rebounders.
They will have a big inside advantage on the Shocks however. They are starting a 6-5 Freshman center who is averaging 17.5 PPG and 9.5 RPG in her first 2 college starts and a 6-3 Junior forward who hasn't scored much but does have 5.0 rebounds per game. The also have a 6-3 Freshman reserve forward they can bring off the bench. They have 3 guards averaging double figures, 2 starters and 1 reserve.
Hard to evaluate these numbers because UTA's 2 wins are against less than stellar competition. The blew out NAIA Missouri Valley College 90-32 in their opener and then defeated Houston Baptist 83-73 in their only D-1 game.
I have a feeling the Lady Shocks will come out focused and intense and that UTA may have a hard time dealing with the Shocks pressure.
The real test for the Shockers will be the at the Paradise Jam over Thanksgiving weekend as they face FGCU (off to a solid start with high-scoring home wins over GW and Florida Intl and a close 3-point road loss to Auburn), Ohio State and Clemson. We will have a pretty good idea where we stand after those 3 games in 3 days.

Shockers 71-61 UT-Arlington
The Shocks played much better than last Tuesday, although certainly not flawlessly, to get the win.
The first half was back and forth until the Shockers went on a 10-0 run late to go ahead 35-27, leading to a 35-31 halftime lead.
The Mavericks led 41-40 midway through the second half when another run, this one 13-0, gave the Shockers a 53-41 lead and the game was never close than eight after that.
Jamillah led the scoring with 21 and the rebounding with ten. Mikaela picked up her fourth foul at the 19:45 mark of the second half, yet scored eleven of her sixteen points scored after that before fouling out late in the game. Alie had thirteen, and Alex had twelve. Alie was perfect in three attempts from beyond the arc, and Mikaela made both of hers. We were seven of ten shooting the three-ball.
The Mavericks have a 6-5 freshman who gave us fits early with her inside presence. She scored thirteen (their scoring leader had seventeen) and collected sixteen of their 35 rebounds. We adjusted to her as the game went on except for Kelsey who stayed away from her offensively.
The very occasional Maverick press bothered us some, and we did not keep good care of the ball late. But this was a good win and a much better outing than last Tuesday.Last edited by flyingMoose; November 22, 2014, 07:24 PM.

Nice win for the Lady Shocks. I was only able to watch the 1st half. I doubt you will find many team with more size than UTA outside of the Power 5. Nevertheless, the Shocks kept it close on the boards getting outrebounded by only 3 at 35-32.
Jamillah Bonner who may not have quite been back in the swing of things against EWU lead the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds. A very nice double-double for Jamillah.
Michaela had another solid game with 16 points before fouling out. Alie Decker chipped in 13. Nice to see Alie finally getting iin the mix. Alex added 12 points.
The Shocks shot very well from the filed making 51% including and outstanding 7-10 on treys. However, they were pretty poor at the line making only 12-21.
I don't think anyone else in the Valley will come close to the size and athletes that UTA put on the floor today but the Shocks will have to beat teams like this from perimeter and in transition as inside game is pretty much non-existant. Kelsey is not a banger and Brittany is a project.Last edited by 1972Shocker; November 22, 2014, 08:29 PM.
