  • Shocker Women's Golf - 2014 Fall Season

The Shocker Ladies are following the lead of their male counterparts (and perhaps upstaging the guys a bit) as they are in 2nd placed after the opening 2 rounds at the Chip-In-Club Invitational in Lincoln, NE.

The Shocks trail leader Ohio State by 5 strokes. Shocker Sophomore Samantha Stewart is in 1st place on the individual leaderboard as she shot an even par 144 (71-73) to lead host Nebraska's Jordan Chael by 2 strokes.

So. Maria Villalobos and Jr. Megan Schuetz each chipped in with 6-over par (150) efforts on the day. Jr. Bryce Schroeder (Round 2) and Sr. Alejandra Arellano (Round 1) each contributed a 78 to the scoring.

Taryin Torgerson, playing as an individual, shot a 151 in her collegiate debut following a 1st round 79 with a rock solid 72 in the afternoon round.

For all of you closet Creighton fans out there the Bluejays are +70 after 2 rounds, 46 shots behind the Shocks. Ouch!

LINCOLN, Neb. ? The Wichita State women's golf team is in second place after two rounds at the Chip-N Club Invitational. Leading the way is sophomore Samantha Stewart who is in first place after shooting a one-under par 71 in the first round and a one-over par 73 in the second round. The Shockers shot a 24-over par (299-301=600) on the first day and are just five shots out of first place.

Here is a look at Samantha's scorecards for the two rounds today.

Pretty clean looking cards. 5 birdies, 5 bogeys and 26 pars. Nice.

Rough start so far. Samantha is +4 after 6 holes, falling to a tie for 7th. Megan is even after 5. It appears Maria withdrew, leaving just four team members. As a group they are in 3rd, 12 strokes behind Ohio State and 5 behind Missouri.

Individually, Taryn is -1 after 5 and tied for 9th.

The Lady Shocks ended up 4th although they shot about the same as a team as they did in the first two rounds. Their scores of 289+300+301 = 900 were good for 4th place behind Ohio State, Mizzou & Nebraska who put up the best 3 team rounds of the tournament today. The Shocks finished 4 shots behind Nebraska.

Individually, the Shocks had two players on the Top 10. Megan Schuetz at 8th and Samantha Stewart in a tie for 10th. Samantha fell off her hot pace of yesterday to shoot a 79 today.
